Is anyone else underwhelmed by Leino?

He doesn't appear to be playing as well, at least offensively, as he did during the regular season. He's looked uncomfortable with the puck in general, but especially carrying it through the neutral zone. Seems to be skating with his head down, not at all smooth, not at all fluid, etc. etc. etc. He hasn't looked like a liability defensively, and he's playing pretty strong.........but man...........after the impact he had offensively in his short stint with the club, I've got to say that I am more than a little dissapointed. I thought we were going to be seeing another Hudler-type player here.

Playoff hockey and his second game in how long?

Plus, you are not going to see a lot of ice time on the fourth line. How many times have we seen people on here say this player is going to be the next Yzerman, when he has only played one game, or this guy is a bum, when he only has 5 minutes of ice time. You have to have a larger body of work, before you can judge someone.

what the hell are you guys talking about?????? his cycling has been second to none, he's never been fast, but he's intelligent and makes good plays most of the time,,, he was the direct result of Abs' goal last night. what more do you want from a rookie trying to fill a dats void?

I think he's been playing well, he's trying to make things happen out there on the 4th line. I'd say he's been the least impressive out of all the rookies but he hasn't been bad by any means. I like his willingness to go into the corners and battle for the puck.

Dunno, when did GR get eliminated?

This is his first does of NHL playoff hockey. I think he is doing well, though under performing from his regualr season performance. He's a 4th liner, it's all good.

He's a fourth-liner, it's his first playoff season, and he hardly got any NHL experience at all this year.

Not all of our players can be superstars. Deal with it.

This is probably the best thing to happen to Leino, even though he probably wouldn't agree. This shows the Wings and, more importantly, himself that he's not quite ready when the s*** hits the fan. Hopefully he'll take a season or two in GR.

easy...easy...i just thought that he was going to explode onto the scene a little more.

like someone else said though, he probably needs another season in gr. it'd be hard to justify playing him over helm or abs at this point.

i thought he looked better tonight, he held onto the puck longer and appeared more confident.

during the game i was think what a great line leino-flip-hossa would be

I think it's a little unfair for people to expect Leino to explode onto the scene like, say, Helm has done. That being said, he's not a liability, and has done exactly what we brought him up to do, which is not screw up and play a solid 4th line.

Leino has 1 giveaway in 4 games.

I think Leino has been doing a good job down low, some mental error's but thats common in hockey. Either way he didnt cost the game or even a goal. So as long as we win , im kool with that. :)

You're kidding, right? His stick and boardwork has been amazing. He hasn't finished on anything yet, but he's been setting up on solid chances and has kept the puck contained in the Pens zone for good long moments.
