Damn, it would be much more epic to have Datsyuk playing right now, so if not Z covering Crosby, its Houdini. It seems more then unlikely for Dats to be playing tonight, but we haven't had the suprising "in" from a player for the whole playoffs. Maybe!

I haven't read this whole thread, so this may've been pointed out already, but it looks like Kris Letang is out tonight. Phillipe Boucher will take his place on the blueline.

That's what Pens fans seem to think based on the morning skate, at least. I'm nt sure if more has been reported.

People have bet against this team for whatever reason for years now. Too old, too Euro, not hungry enough, too many passes, sometimes too injured, the other team is talented too, the other goalie is red hot and on and on and on.

They won all their road Final games in 1997, 1998 and 2002. They won game 4 and 6 last year against Pittsburgh. Who can forget the 2-0 game 6 win in Colorado in the WCF in 2002. Game 4 in Anaheim up against it, game 4 in Chicago where it all could have gone wrong.

This team will come out and play a SUPERB game tonight. Why?

Becasue it's what the Detroit Red Wings do this time of year. Will a Kenyan runner win the Olympic marathon? Yes. Why? Because it's what they do.

The Detroit Red Wings don't have the pressure on them, the Penguins DO. Young eager teams make terrible mistakes in such situations. You watch, if the Wings score first, the panic will set in on the Penguins side. They'll keep waiting for the next bad bounce or the next thing to go wrong or the next Zetterberg big save in the crease.

Watch Hossa tonight, you watch him stick it to the Pens and their fans. As much as they have been waiting for this night, so has he.

As long as we're up by 2 at some point in the early 3rd period, the amount of goals scored doesn't matter (as long as Hossa scores to piss off the Pens fans). I plan to send a text to my friends saying "there WILL be Joe Vision thursday" sometime between 10:30 and 11:00...make it happen Wings...

Let me tell you guys something. Four years before my father died, we were playing street hockey in the street. And he gets down on one knee and he says to me, son someday you’re going to be on your own, you’re gonna have to judge new people, and make your own decisions. And if there’s one thing you can take with you through all of these times, it’s loyalty. I’m means that somebody out there gives shi t about you. And you have to ask yourself who do I give a shi t about.

So far, the Red Wings have shown resiliant loyalty in the face of adversity as they have beaten the penguins twice without some of our better players. But it will take a new level of loyalty, of commitment to win the cup. It's something we need tonight.

Before the game tonight, we all need to look in the mirror and ask ourselves who we are loyal to. We need to be loyal enough to will our team to victory as prove ourselves more loyal than their fans and their team.

Remember, without loyalty, that desire, that inbred spirit, true greatness can never be fully realized. But thanks be to heaven, every so often, a team emerges from the fiery pits of Hell to become something greater as a whole than one player could ever be. And that so far in the playoffs and tonight will be the Detroit Red Wings. And that my friends, is loyalty.

Kill. Maim. Destroy. Obliterate. Annihilate. WIN.

Well, this is a crucial game, and for a couple of reasons. If we win, it puts the Pens in a serious hole. If we lose, it gives them a little bit of wiggle room, but still allows us to put our heel to their throats in Game 4. WE HAVE TO WIN THIS GAME. Give them no reason to think they even have so much as a miniscule prayer.

Wings win, Hank with the hat trick.

I've always thought that game 3 is the second most important game in a series. The obvious first being the clincher.

1. If the teams are 1-1, the winner of game 3 can split the rest of the games and prevail. The loser has to win 3 out of 4.

2. If a team is up 2-0 and wins game 3, the other team has to win 4 in a row against a team that just beat them 3 in a row.

3. If a team is up 2-0 and loses game three they may lose momentum. Now they HAVE TO split the rest of the games against the team that feels, Hey we can do this.

With that said, Let's kick some Pens' butt tonight!

I've always felt like the odd-numbered games are more important than the even-numbered ones. G1 sets the tone, you covered G3, G5 is either a 3-1 closeout game or 2-2 and forcing the loser to win two straight and G7 is obvious.

I feel physically ill right now about this game. I've been feeling that way since last night. Which is weird, because in the WCF, my G3 attitude was "hey, we're playing with house money, 3-0 would be awesome, but we're still good at 2-1." I have no idea what to make of it.

PS. Bob Errey is a toolbox. I wish Murph was more of a homer to match him (on the NHL Network pre and post-game shows).

Here's to no more odd-numbered games! :beerbuddy:

Hopefully the refs don't tighten up the calls too much. Extra penalties probably favor the Pens, although the Wings PP isn't chopped liver either. I'm not a big fan of NHL conspiracy theories either, but I do fear that the penalty calls may tilt in the Pens favor this game.

To win this game, I believe Hossa will have to elevate his play once again. He's been great on the backcheck in this series and I would love to see him bury a couple of goals on the Pens ice.

Should be a good game no matter the outcome. Go WINGS!!!!

As much as I'd love to see it, I just don't see the wings holding the Pens to 2 or less goals AGAIN. You never know, but you gotta think in one of these games, Osgood is going to get dented up a little bit.

But I don't know. It's really hard to predict. Because of last year's failure, ALL of the pressure is on Crosby and the Pens to perform, and especially MAF. Those guys don't wanna look bad. MAF might be very shakey tonight, especially if the wings can get one on him in the first 10 minutes of the game...or on the first 1 or 2 shots.

I'm really pulling, I just think tonight is the game that we lose.
