NGKEIB 32 Report post Posted June 2, 2009 Sorry if this has already been posted, but I didn't see it. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/20...uelsson_pa.html If he can't play, Draper will replace him. Datsyuk didn't look good skating, but apparently is making significant steps and might play in Game 4.
ben_usmc 253 Report post Posted June 2, 2009 for f*** sake we are getting injuried left and right, I doubt we see Dats unless we go back to Det: 2/
Mike 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2009 I'd say leave Sammy out and play Draper. We could use another face off man.
Chunkylover 26 Report post Posted June 2, 2009 The Wings will have their hands full in game three. Pittsburgh will have a lot of momentum and we just lost one of our valuable depth players. Drapes will help on those all important face-offs, until the linesman remembers the Hitchcock Curse and kicks him out of the circle. Hopefully he can keep up and Samuelsson can get better quickly. Hopefully Datsyuk will be available soon.

If anything, the only thing the Pens have is desperation.

stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted June 2, 2009 I'd say leave Sammy out and play Draper. We could use another face off man. especially for how often we're getting kicked out of the cirlce for f's sake...
Chunkylover 26 Report post Posted June 2, 2009 Pittsburgh doesn't have a lot of momentum. Momentum is gained during actual game play, not during off days. If anything, the only thing the Pens have is desperation. Well, desperation coupled with the energy of the fans will turn into momentum I think. What I should have said is that the Pens will come out hard, like they did last year in game three and the Wings will have their hands full, especially with more injuries. One might argue that another injury could affect the mental state of the Wings and affect the momentum they have from two tough wins. No real disagreement, just perhaps poor word selection on my part. Go Wings!

GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted June 2, 2009 I guess we now don't have to worry about who Draper will replace on the 4th line. This means that Leino will most likely be moved up to the 3rd line where he'll hopefully thrive playing with more skilled players. Still, Sammy's been great for us in the playoffs, and Draper is not likely to provide any offensive spark. If Datsyuk was back this wouldn't be a big deal, but he's not, so it is. YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted June 2, 2009 That sucks. Hopefully hes just sick, and will be back for Game 4. We all know that Sammy has his faults, but hes also exactly the type of guy that would be likely to sneak in under the radar of the Pens D and score a big goal. NGKEIB 32 Report post Posted June 2, 2009 I think that Samuelsson might have the same flu that Patrick Kane got when Bourque hit him. Was it Cooke who hit Sammy in game 2?
Konnan511 1,736 Report post Posted June 2, 2009 Good thing our defense has been very good and adding Draper will only increase that. I know this may sound like I am joking, but hopefully we can still add offense without Sammy. We're going to need Hossa and Franzen to step up huge for us tonight. No real disagreement, just perhaps poor word selection on my part. Go Wings! That why the Wings need to score within the first 10 minutes of the game. Really make this Pens team think that they cannot win. I would take a Hossa goal as that would probably be 3 times as soul crushing as if any other Wings player scored. The Sammy injury isn't as big as the Datsyuk/Lidstrom injuries. With the amount of turnovers sammy has, the Pens are probably upset to see him out.
Mike 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2009 especially for how often we're getting kicked out of the cirlce for f's sake... Exactly. Plus it allows the Wings to fiddle with their 3rd and 4th lines to get better match up since they do not have last change.

Motown4013 350 Report post Posted June 2, 2009 I don't really see this a total disaster. Drapes is fresh , well rested, has great legs and is a faceoff machine. The Pens will try and throw Cindy out on the 3rd line and with Draper in, we can dominate the circle, even when Z isn't on the ice. Sammy has had a really good post season, but I will be happy that Babs won't go with the "sammy on the Point" during the PK...Krons and Big Rig can do some punishment! In reality, of course, if Hossa scores early, expect to see a Pens 5-on-3 right quick.
