marcaractac 3,963 Report post Posted June 3, 2009 I have no idea what the mood has been on the forums tonight, but I had an awesome night. I figured tonight would be the one game the Wings would lose, so the loss didnt bother me much. Only a game 4 loss would make me:( But I live in St. John's, Newfoundland, and I was drinking at the bar I work at tonight watchong the game. A bar called Turkey Joes, on the famous George Street. Tonight, I met Adam Pardy of the Calgary Flames, and chatted with him for a nice bit. Just to note a couple things he has said, word for word. "The Wings will not lose this series. They are way to stong, it is amazing how strong they are, actually" When I asked how many games the series would go, he said it would end in 6. I told him I thought it would end in 5, and he said that is very likely as well. Now, I just thought it was really cool to get an actually NHL'ers perspective on things, and it was great to hear just how much praise he had for the Wings. He said he can't see anybody topping them in the years to come. Fun ass night!!
b.shanafan14 733 Report post Posted June 3, 2009 Good story, that would be one hell of a night! I expected the Wings to lose tonite, so no huge deal, they definitely need to split in Pittsburgh tho.

Jon22 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2009 I have tickets to Game 5, so to be honest, I was kind of hoping for a loss. I actually did not want it to happen tonight, as it would have been better to secure that 3rd win so that no matter what happens in the next 2 games, you're still 1 away from the Cup. When the loss happened tonight, I was surprised at how furious I was. I was at Game 5 last June when they lost in triple OT. My heart cannot take that agony again. My hope is that they take Game 4, and that Pittsburgh will not see the Penguins at Mellon Arena until October.
Jon22 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2009 A couple of things to consider, too. I'm not sure when the Wings actually flew into Pittsburgh, but you have to imagine that by Thursday they will be back in their comfort zone. Like vacationing to a new spot, you might feel out of place, off of time for the first day or two. Being there as a team Wed and Thur will help them settle in, I would think. Also, maybe I'm looking at this only as a desperate fan, but I would also imagine that the boys know what's on the line as far as winning it at home. If I were a player, I'd most obviously want to win the Cup at home, especially after winning it in the stadium of the team that you're once again playing. It's not as if they had any intention of losing tonight, but I think that because of last year, they'll want this Game 4 (and moreso Game 5) so much more. Theophany 110 Report post Posted June 3, 2009 Sorry guys, I've called every series right so far, and I called a Wings win in 5 (losing game 3). My bad. At least now we'll see the true fury of the Wings in game 4 (see 'fury of the Wings in game 4' against the Ducks and Hawks, 6-3 and 6-1 respectively). I to called a game 3 loss from the start with everyone I know. It still sucked to see them lose game 3, but I saw it coming. I am very confident the Wings will get the split, and finish it off Saturday night. Even a Calgary Flame thinks so
ComradeWasabi 109 Report post Posted June 3, 2009 I called the Chicago series letter-perfect; win two at home, Chicago wins game 3 based on their home crowd exuberance, Wings dominate game 4 and then finish it off at home. That was my prediction for this series too and I would love nothing more than to see it come true.
Jon22 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2009 (edited) I hope you're all right. I don't want to have to have to take June 12 off of work and drive up for a Game 7, only to have my vascular system tested to the max. I also don't want a repeat where the deed happens away from home. Edited June 3, 2009 by Jon22

Opie 308 Report post Posted June 3, 2009 I too expected this loss, I said from the start 7 games, I just don't see either team losing at home!
truebladearmy 33 Report post Posted June 3, 2009 Ironically, I think we were all hoping for a win, but expecting a loss. It's not even because Pittsburgh is better. It just always so happens that game 3's tend to go in the favor of the losing team. but, teams down 2-0 tend to lose about 32 out of 33 times

That is, since 2006, post-lockout. I'd figure it out for myself but I don't have the time right now.
