NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted June 3, 2009 A little more info from Bruce Macleod. http://www.redwingscentral.com/redwingscor...534974378050274 I think if Rafalski was injured they would switch up the lines. No way Cheli is playing top 2 minutes. Ericcson would likely be in that spot again. He has to be just resting. QFT....especially given the new assignment E would have to take up. There's no way he wouldn't practice alongside Lids to work out the way they'll try to match-up and change lines given their assignment of the Crosby line. NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted June 3, 2009 Sidnote: Would anyone be that upset if they went with these lines regardless if Homer is healthy or not. He's been extremely ineffective these playoffs and against a puck-moving team like Pittsburgh, IMO it wouldn't be the worst thing to see him sit. The top three lines can all score as well as play great defense, while the bottom line has two solid defensive players with a guy that can create flashes of offense. I'll take it. Mike 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2009 I like these lines alot. I'm kinda impartial whether that last spot goes to Leino or Abdelkader. I think Abs would be the better choice because with the rate that the Wings are getting kicked out of the circle it would be nice to have two guys that are able to take faceoffs. NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted June 3, 2009 I think it should also be noted that Holmstrom is playing with an injury. I observed him very closely last night and you could see he is playing with pain. It doesn't have to be.....I'm not ripping the guy one bit. I'm simply stating that (regardless of injury) this hasn't been the most productive of postseasons for Homer. On top of that, if he is in fact injured (especially after the hit last night), that's all the more reason he shouldn't play. Healthy or not, everyone knows Homer is the worst skater on the team and against a Penguins team that thrives on speed through the neutral zone playing a guy like Homer in this current situation could be a major defensive liability. What's up with them getting kicked out so much. I have never seen this so much in my life! I was meaning to bring this up, but forgot until you mentioned it. I agree, but Babs has said that Abs has struggled playing the wing, so if Draper is back I think it might be leino. Unless of course Abs plays center and drapes plays the wing, which he has done a lot this year.(with Drapes taking face-offs)
Mike 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2009 What's up with them getting kicked out so much. I have never seen this so much in my life! I was meaning to bring this up, but forgot until you mentioned it. I think it goes back to the first round when Fatty Hitchcock said that the Wings were cheating on the faceoffs. Ever since then we have been getting the boot x30. NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted June 3, 2009 I like these lines alot. I'm kinda impartial whether that last spot goes to Leino or Abdelkader. I would agree with Mike having Abdelkader in rather than Leino would be the way to go given the face-off situation (especially given Bylsma has the last change). While Leino is far superior to holding onto the puck and setting up plays, Abdelkader is playing with a ton of confidence right now and having a fourth liner currently feeling like he can throw pucks at the net and get goals is a huge asset. StevieY9802 6 Report post Posted June 3, 2009 Having Draper and Pavel back in would be huge. I hate sitting around for 2 day after a loss. I just want them to get back out there and get it right next game. After a win it's nice to sit around and soak it all in.

Unless of course Abs plays center and drapes plays the wing, which he has done a lot this year.(with Drapes taking face-offs) That would be good. To me, it seems that Leino tries to do too much on his own. Instead of looking for a pass he holds onto the puck, spins around and then loses it. But, Leino is a winger and Draps is a natural center. I am glad I am not Babcock.

Mike 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2009 I'm fairly confident Hitchcock was referring to the wingers though, not the centers. We know how selective the officials are, so it wouldn't surprise me that they only heard "Wings", "faceoffs" and "cheating."
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted June 3, 2009 We know how selective the officials are, so it wouldn't surprise me that they only heard "Wings", "faceoffs" and "cheating." That's a whole other can of worms. I suppose it doesn't change the fact that the Wings have been thrown out of the face-off circle probably more times this postseason then they were all regular season combined.
