Malkn for Conn Smythe

We'll see how Game 6 pans out. If Malkin has a big game and the Pens win, I'm sure he'll get it even if the Wings end up winning Game 7.

If the Wings win and Malkin doesn't have atleast a hat-trick, Z or Ozzie will take it.

sorry I don't think the Wings would still be in the playoffs if it wasn't for Ozzie .. he pulled them through some very rough first periods in all of the series when they could have easily been blown outta the water with no chance of any come back. He single handedly kept them in some games early in numerous games until the Wings got their legs under them and started playing like they could/should.

and the same could be said for Z .. he has kept scoring while tying up Sid (who by the way has ONLY 1 goal and 1 assist) in the series ...

Malkin is just a one way player, and how many of his points have come at even strength? seems they can only score on the PP and he doesn't even play on the PK Z does it all.

You hit the nail on the head with this. i don't think there is one thing i can disagree with. ozzie has been solid.

Puck Daddy is a douchebag who tries to use fast writing and pithy statements to cover up the fact that his hockey knowledge just isn't that great.

If Pittsburgh pulls it out, Malkin should win it no question unless Crosby is the sole reason for the 2 last wins. Malkin has been incredible, even against Detroit. Not to say Detroit wouldn't have won last year, but man that series would have been different if 2009 Malkin was playing.

That said, I'm confident in Detroit's chances and I'm buying into the Zetterberg media hype right now. He's been impressive versus Crosby and 24 points in 21 games is fantastic, even if he has 4-5 empty net points or whatever.

If Detroit wins, I think the decision will come down to which one of Osgood or Zetterberg plays the best clinching game.

edit: oh and there's absolutely zero chance of Malkin or Crosby winning the Conn Smythe if the Penguins don't come back.

If Zetterberg wins it, I believe he'll only be the 2nd skater ever to win it back to back.

At this point, however, I have Ozzie ahead of him as far as who's been better for us. Ozzie has been more consistent game to game, especially earlier in the playoffs.

Since the award was first given in 1965, five players on the losing team in the SCF have won the award:

2003 Jean-Sebastien Giguere* Mighty Ducks of Anaheim

1987 Ron Hextall* Philadelphia Flyers

1976 Reg Leach* Philadelphia Flyers

1968 Glenn Hall* St. Louis Blues

1966 Roger Crozier* Detroit Red Wings

And all but one of them is a goalie. Malkin ain't a goalie.

If you lose the Stanley Cup Finals, you deserve to win...................absolutely nothing. You lost. Losers get squat.

If Datsyuk was healthy going into the finals Malkin would likely be on par with Crosby right now which still isn't half bad.

If it comes down to Osgood or Malkin all I have to say is Osgood has stoned Malkin multiple times one on one in this series. That for me means he gets the nod over Malkin.

As much as I hate to say it, he is the only other player that I could see winning it besides Chris Osgood. For me it goes 1. Chris Osgood, 2. Malkin

im with ya on that 1. im not byassed so i'll say malkin is the best forward in the nhl besides ovechkyn. long live the wings and chris osgood though, brotha

goalie moalie!!!!!!!!!! ozzy would have to win to earn his and he will win. question is...... will they give the smythe to him? hard enough for him to get a star of the game with 40+ saves and 1 goal allowed with a win you know?

It wouldn't shock me if Malkin won the Conn Smythe in a losing effort, nor would it disappoint me all that much. He certainly has the numbers and production to be in the running. The most important trophy is the one below. If that means that a Penguin wins the other trophy, fine by me.

I don't think Malkin is in the front running for Conn Smythe (at least when considering some Red Wings), but to say that he has been playing below average against the Wings is kind of loony. He's the only reason the Wings haven't swept the Pens.

I didn't say below average. I said average. And a -1 against the Wings is pretty average. This still doesn't make him the playoff MVP. How the hell can a player have 35 points in the post-season but be a -2?
