King Crane 289 Report post Posted June 13, 2009 Red Wings are still the best team in the NHL! I'ld rather have a conference champion team on its 18th playoff birth (best in ALL of sports history) than a team who only got as far as they did because of 1st and 2nd round draft picks after 12 years of sucking hard! (Wings willl bring back Stanley next year!)

Norm_Maracle For Vezina 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2009 I agree with you dude.. you can only be judged on your cup victory for one year.. but the franchise success will be determined by what you do in the long run.. we are still the best....

VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted June 13, 2009 I've never been this upset with the Wings for losing in the playoffs. They got really far considering they only played maybe two full games all year, and they got really far considering our big stars absolutely disappeared, and they got really far playing half-assed for the first 45 mintues of every game. This team can't return next year. It was probably a bad move keeping the entire team together and only adding Conklin and Hossa. Some energy needs to be fused into this lineup and some chaff let go. And I say that loving every player on the Wings team. But seriously Wings, you really half-assed this whole thing.

Casey 145 Report post Posted June 13, 2009 we lost the stanley cup. be upset. No. Who here thought they'd get this close? Who here would have said I was anything but insane for saying Osgood would take us to game 7 of the Finals with a GAA of 2? Who here wouldn't have killed for that back midseason when Ozzie's GAA was over 3.5? Hossa goes. A few retire. Bring up the Aces. They'll be back.

King Crane 289 Report post Posted June 13, 2009 -We're Conference CHAMPIONS! -We're the NHL's best franchise (and probably all of sports) Let's focus on the latter. Lets focus on the fact that no other team has been this good for this long. Lets hope the wings continue to be post-season ready ever year. You should be elated to be a part of the NHL's premiere team. That reputation lasts forever, a cup victory can only last so long (especially if its in a town like pittsburgh). Remember, those fans in Pittsburgh will jump of their BANDWAGON team soon enough. (Btw. Everyone is upset. I'm a lot more upset than I thought I would be. But shake it off over the weekend, and be proud to be a fan of the mighty Detroit Red Wings!)

DenSter 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2009 The disappointment is starting to subside for me. I was VERY upset with the pathetic effort during the end of the first and the whole second periods, but I'm starting to think they just ran out of whatever it is that you need to keep this up. We can tlak all we want about how the Wings did NOT do something, but in the end it was the Penguins that simply beat them. That's the reality of sports, and I'm starting to accept it. Tomorrow I'm going to play some golf, wearing my Red Wings hat. Look at it this way: they went all the way to the finals two years in a row, we got treated to a game 7 against a fabulous team, and don't forget that we've seen some top notch hockey. I've enjoyed this season and I am looking forward to next year.
Yzerfan1999 81 Report post Posted June 13, 2009 One of the things I am upset about is this talk that the Pens are the Oilers of the 80s. F that, the Wings have a better future then the Pens IMO. Crosby, Malkin, and Staal are great, but I really don't feel like the Pens have what it takes to come close to repeating. Just look at that Defense, they played like gods for 2 months. Next year they will be back to their average selves.
