Pskov Wings Fan 71 Report post Posted June 27, 2009 PS: Rodger Ebert basically begged his readers not to watch Transformers 2, apparently it's the movie equivalent of getting raped. First one was not very good to begin with. Now talking about getting raped, go see "Crank: High Voltage".

BlakKy 58 Report post Posted June 27, 2009 I love these jokes about Detroit. MVP with pick in the 70's... you heard it on TSN first.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted June 27, 2009 That deal was useless, and this draft has been a bum. Pronger has been the only thing all day. If Pittsburgh takes Landon Ferraro I swear to god...
rage 24 Report post Posted June 27, 2009 There goes Ashton!!!

55fan 5,133 Report post Posted June 27, 2009 And there goes Ashton. What was that they said- the Wings get a 3rd round pick and will draft an MVP?
Pskov Wings Fan 71 Report post Posted June 27, 2009 I guess Detroit really did not want to pick Ashton.
10 Minute Misconduct 104 Report post Posted June 27, 2009 its the 32nd and 75th pick
Motown4013 350 Report post Posted June 27, 2009 Why doubt the VERY BEST last round draft team in NHL history...I mean, Zetty, Pavel, Lids, Homer...need I say more. The second round is early for the Wings. They probably have some unknown prospect who no one has ever seen skate besides the Wings
Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted June 27, 2009 Or a draft thats comparable to 2003. But whatever. This.
LadyWildcat 4 Report post Posted June 27, 2009 We get 32 and 75, and Tampa gets Ashton... damnit.
ZigZagYourTorso 8 Report post Posted June 27, 2009 I have a feeling that 5 years from now we're still going to be talking about how stupid of a move this was.
Swayze 81 Report post Posted June 27, 2009 Anyone else pissed they watched the whole damn thing just to see Detroit trade their pick? (yes it was a smart move, but we better get Rajala out of this)
sureWhyNot 19 Report post Posted June 27, 2009 Or a draft thats comparable to 2003. But whatever. Nah, this one is pretty weak... You can tell the strength of a draft class by how many players (usually numbers 1-15 on the rankings) have more "pros" then "cons" in the scouts analysis. This year the ones with more pros then cons only lasted through #
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted June 27, 2009 Carter Ashton is pretty much the worst name ever. I either want to Ashton Kutcher or Anson Carter. It sounds like everyone is referring to him as "Carter, Ashton"

Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted June 27, 2009 If Ferraro is still there going into tommorow, then I dont really care about any of these other kids.
rick zombo 3,739 Report post Posted June 27, 2009 Again, Nill has been quoted as saying that there is little to give between #15-#35 in terms of prospect talent. It's obvious that the Wings value a #32 pick as much as a #29. Plus they get an extra 2nd rounder. I have absolutely no problem with this. The only thing that's annoying is that we have to wait until tomorrow before the Wings take their first skater.
rage 24 Report post Posted June 27, 2009 I guess it's not that bad of a trade. We only go from the 29th to the 32nd and we also get 75th. Tampa really wanted Ashton. And they just got him.

P. Marlowe 748 Report post Posted June 27, 2009 That's a good trade. Almost a free third rounder. Some teams have s***ty scouting so they can give away their late round picks. Quite funny that all the wait and then this happens.
Wingfan24 0 Report post Posted June 27, 2009 what time is the draft tomorrow 7?

I can't even watch tomorrow ahh there goes Ashton... too bad but meh can't really complain I guess 3 spots for a 4th rounder... 3rd rounder, but yeah. Seems dumb. Except I trust the Red Wings scouts more than the scouts of any other team in the league. If they traded down it's because they know they can afford to move down to 32nd without losing their man. And apparently they believe in this kid so much that they're willing to skip a guy who was projected to go in the top 20.
sureWhyNot 19 Report post Posted June 27, 2009 2003 was the deepest talent pool we have seen in a while, or at least comparible to the deepest. This year looks nothing like the 2003 draft.
