egroen 384 Report post Posted June 26, 2009 http://ducks.freedomblogging.com/2009/06/2...-selanne/15283/ In the wake of the club’s seven-game loss to the Detroit Red Wings in the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs, Murray requested answers from Niedermayer and Selanne “before the draft.†Technically, that means by 4 p.m. (PDT) Friday. “I’ll know when I get to the draft,†Murray said. “If I don’t, I’m going to be upset. I’ll hear from Scotty. He’s supposed to tell me — that’s all I know. Then I’ll call Teemu.†Selanne has a contract set to pay him $2 million next season but could choose to retire, while Niedermayer stands to become an unrestricted free agent Wednesday. Having pondered retirement each of the past two off-seasons, and sat out the opening 34 games of the 2007-08 campaign after leading the Ducks to the 2007 Stanley Cup championship, Niedermayer could retire, re-sign with the Ducks or play elsewhere. As much as Murray has grown weary of fielding repeated questions from reporters about Niedermayer and Selanne, some Ducks fans have become frustrated by the annual uncertainty regarding the team captain and the club’s all-time leading scorer. “They’re getting tired of it — that’s for sure,†Murray said. Good for Murray. Neidermayer is a piece of s*** for putting his team through this crap. What a rotten captain. If Selanne retires it would be hilarious -- $2 million of dead weight towards their cap! edicius 3,269 Report post Posted June 26, 2009 Niedermayer's scheduled to hold a press conference to say that he doesn't know yet. What? He did that last year, who would be surprised if he did it this year?
cusimano_brothers 1,655 Report post Posted June 26, 2009 From tsn dot com: Sources tell TSN Scott Niedermayer has informed the Anaheim Ducks he intends to play next season. It's likely Niedermayer will re-sign with the Ducks, however the veteran defenceman has to negotiate a contract. Niedermayer's decision will likely influence Anaheim to trade Chris Pronger. VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted June 27, 2009 From tsn dot com: What a horrible captain. Why did they have to move Pronger to sign Neidermeyer again? He's not going to push for a freaking RAISE is he?
