YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 finally a nice move, bit overpaid imho Its a respectable number for a UFA. Its not like he signed a lifetime deal that depreciates the cap hit.

russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 Gainey should re-sign his RFA's then Koivu and Kovalev and call it a day.
bonan78 1 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 Just announced on TSN, 5 years, $30 million. Good move by Gainey, starting to redeem himself after his lapses in judgement earlier today. It'll be interesting to see how he fits in the lineup, and who has to leave to make room. My money's on Tanguay being gone, Kovalev too. Koivu is the most likely to stay. Guest Shoreline Report post Posted July 1, 2009 I hope he and Gill take the Montreal fans seriously. If Cammy flakes on his scoring or Gill gets complacent taking up that salary after winning a cup, fans there will run them out of town.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 Good signing, but he needs to prove himself, by himself.
dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 They could have a really good 1st line with Gomez and Cammalleri. 6 mil is a bit much, but not as bad as Gainey's earlier signings.

55fan 5,133 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 I just woke up, but it's still surprising how long it took me to realize that we're talking Cameleri (or however you spell it) and not Granato. Now that I'm up to speed, I'm a bit surprised at the price tag. Will be interesting to see who they end up with once all this trading, signing, and going to camp stuff is over. Canadian_Yzerman_Fan 7 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 This is the biggest overpayment of the day... i dont think he can live up to this contract... see previous years signings of Biere, Campbell, Gomez & Drury, etc.
