This post is correct. Thanks for the season...Thanks for bombing in the playoffs...Part of coming to Detroit to "win a cup" meant you had to contribute as well. Enjoy Chicago ya loser.

This thread has to stop... let it go.

When Hossa left Pittsburg, every Pens fan was upset that he left and every Wings fan thought...Hossa didnt owe them anything. I agreed.

Hossa led the wings in scoring this season. He played well for us throughout the season. I NEVER have been a Hossa fan but i appreciated what he contibuted to this team.

In the playoffs, he was terrible. I think he was overwhelmed, maybe hurt...but we will never know. Hossa is about 1 of 6 Wings that WAY underproduced in the playoffs. We don't have threads to talk about what a loser Hudler was, or what a goat Dats was (before he was hurt). No one menttions how brutal homer was.....and if Hossa would have re-signed, i am guessing this would have all been water under the bridge.

I am glad that we wont resign him. I would hate to be in a stranglehold against the cap. As for Hossa, the Wings made a "NON-NEGOTIBLE" offer to him for 4.5 a year. Hossa is, in some markets, worth double that. He was offered double that last year from the Oil. Lets get serious- that was a dog's offer and yes thats all we had but no good business man (and Hossa is in a business) is going to take that offer for 4 years. NOBODY...nor should he. Komiserik, who scored 6 goals last year made more money.

Anyways, i am done my rant. Good luck Hossa in Chicago and good luck to Dale Talon on trying to get under the cap next year. As for the sour grapes, its tired. I hope Hossa gets what he is looking for in Chicago...after all- we didnt really make him a good offer to stay.

Datsyuk 16 games played 1 goal 8 assists 9 points

Hossa 23 games played 6 goals 9 assists 15 points

Datsyuk had 52 shots on goal with a 1.9%

Hossa had a 100 shots on goal with a 6.0%

Looks like if Datsyuk played as many games as Hossa he would have still not done as good this year in the playoffs. Let the Datsyul Hate begin...... oh wait most people on here are to stupid to look at the big picture. Figure out what you're talking about before you start crying because Hossa left for a team that had enough money for him.

Sorry to put down your man-crush Hossa, but i am pretty sure it is well documented that Dats was also playing on a broken foot.

The only point i have made is that he flopped in the playoffs. Since you are so well educated in hockey and the rest of us don't know anything, i thought you would be able to see that. You don't have to refer to everyone in our forum as stupid either, it is a forum for opinions friend!

I said price. You said years. Don't try that.

Oh come on now. Every team in the league would take Hossa at his 5.2 cap hit if they had the space. The sedins just got a cap hit of 6.1. Gionta has almost the same cap hit as Hossa. He's a great deal at that price for sure.

And by the way...Who is crying about Hossa leaving? We won without him and lost with him. Your the hockey brainiac, shouldn't we be happy he has left. I am.

Way too many people are angry with Hossa. You all look like pathetic Pens fans. He had a great season with us until the Finals, cut the guy some slack. He took a huge discoutn to play for us and he always had an excellent, hard working attitude. It sucks to lose the Hoss because like when we lost Robitaille, he's going to have a great year next year and it won't be for us.

Good luck Hossa, just not against us.

i was ready to feel this way.. until he went to chicago

I'm not pleased he not only ended up in the West but the Central on top of it, but that doesn't change anything IMHO. Just as I said last year, I appreciate what he did and the risk he took to play for Detroit. No matter where he ended up I said I would thank him and wish him well, and I do.....just not against Detroit.

I was ragging on Dats upfront too (until it came out that he was really hurt)... but figure in how many games Dats played hurt and where Hossa played healthy (or at least nothing that came out after the season was over) Dats performance "could be" directly related to playing injured before he missed some games and definitely after when he came back before he was healed up all the way.

Comparing an injured dats and a healthy Hossa doesn't exactly compare apples to apples.

Good luck in Chicago, Marian. Hell of a contract, you'll be playing with a contender for the rest of your career, bummer we'll be foes from here on out, but I certainly won't boo you. Your season with the Wings was a gift, and I respect that. Wish it would have ended better for you.

I really hope he never gets boo'd at the Joe. We have to show we as a fan-base understand more about the politics of hockey and more than anything, respect a guy who risked it all for a year with the greatest team in hockey.

Good luck against all the 28 teams not wearing the Winged-Wheel. Go Wings.

Look at the numbers that's all I'm saying. Broken foot or not if you are going to be an elite player play like it

Not a hockey brainiac, I just think about things before I say them...

People on here hate him for leaving, I just don't see why you would hate a guy for leaving the team when they couldn't offer him what he wanted.

I was ragging on Dats upfront too...

OsGOD, I know you know what you're talking about you are one of the ones who stays around here during the good and the bad. So no hard feelings. ^_^

it is ignored because we needed goals at the end... our boys could contain them (we did last year too) we needed Hossa to do exactly what we rented him for and what he did all season long.... score goals.

The point in the discussion trying to be made was that he was or wasn't trying. He didn't score but that doesn't mean he wasn't trying. Or was totally useless. Adn again, even if, this attitude is just so black or white, good or bad. He played vey well. We needed goals but a) alot of guys didn't produce and b) the officials were going to let anything slide on pitt untilt hey won so let's not go overboard with blame.

Every team? I'm sure there are other stars who may give a serious thought to signing with us at 5.2 mil. And doesn't a part of you think that if Holland really wanted Hossa, he could've gave him another 1.2 per season? He is Holland you know, he's defied our expectations many times. I could see someone like Kovulchuk heading here for that and hell, I'd take him over Hoss. The reason we'er succesful and other teams are consistently not, is that we wouldn't give Hossa 5.2 million. It sounds crazy to the "win at any cost, a bargains a bargain no questions asked" crowd but I think Holland saw what a few others saw-a guy who stunk under pressure. After this I'd be hesitant to pay him Franzen money nm 5.2.

In the regular season i will give you that... in the post season he played mediocre at best. he was not a stand out difference maker in enough games to say he played very well.

he just choked under pressure...simple as that.

I was ecstatic last July when I found out that Hossa was coming to the Red Wings and I'm so glad for the one season he did spend here. I too really wish we could have won the Cup with him on the Roster this season but it didn't work out. I wish him nothing but the best. I will say I think he may have a real good chance at getting the Cup with Chicago in about 2 to 3 possibly 4 years down the road. Chicago I believe still has some growing and learning to do.

I must say that I think his agent had a tremendous lot to do with him signing in Chicago for the next 12 seasons. For Hossa to say that he will take less to stay with the Wings and that he wanted to stay with the Wings. It seems to me that he would have taken less to stay. I think Winter probably put it in his head that he could get him a better offer with a team that DOES have a shot at getting a Cup soon.

While there are no hostile feelings toward Hossa for signing with the Hawks I really hate to see him go becasue I really truly felt we had a great shot to keep in in MoTown. We'll deal with the loss and move forward and be happy wit the team we have. This doesn't take anything away from the Wings; we are still a great team and a great franchise.

Good Luck Marian and Let's Go Red Wings!!!!

He choked in scoring. But he played very good defense, broke up alot of key plays, backchecked like crazy and at least tried to make plays. He didn't score but why do people think that's a good reason to ignore every other contribution.

If he did score, and then failed to even try and play D and the other team scored because of his defensive zone error, we'd all be complaining about something else in the exact same manner. We got rid of guys like Hull because they did that right? Only a few guys score per game but it's critical to have everyone on the team play D.

The irony about the bold here is people here were making fun of Penguins fans that felt betrayed by Hossa and were upset like an angry ex. Oh how the tables have turned for a good portion of this board.

At least we have more of a reason. He was actually with us for a substantial amount of time, a full season and a deep playoff run, and then abandons his plans to go to a division rival full of children and a bleh coach.

That said, DON'T BOO HIM AND DON'T BE MAD. He never guaranteed he'd stay and hey, look at it this way-we were screwed out of showing the world we were the better team in the finals. Big time. But this we have full control over-let's show everyone we're bigger than the idiots in Pittsburgh and not boo him or stay angry.

You sound like an angry ex too, as far as Wings fans should be concerned.

Hossa was a rental here just as much as there. If he was any more he would have signed in excess of a one year contract. In both cases he proclaimed he merely wanted to re-sign and didn't. The only difference is, as you mention, full season vs. trade deadline and on, and he went to a division rival, which really isn't any justification at all for being sour, particularly when whiny Penguins fans had similar justification for angry ex syndrome because he went to the team that beat them in the cup finals. Wings were aware well before July 1st came that he wasn't coming back, for sure, and had enough time to try and deal him to another team as well as sign UFA/RFA's July 1st and on.

I'm glad he's gone, was never a Hossa fan, he won me over a bit during the season, but turned right back into dirty Senator in the playoffs. I wish you no sucess in Chicago, and I hope to god Toews commands too much money and leaves and goes somewhere I can actually cheer him on, because THATS a hockey player!

I'm an angry ex who won't be booing him and isn't mad at him. Makes sense

I didn't justify the behavior of people critical of him. I said they had at least more of a reason than Pitt fans.

Yeah but who cares? Why compare ourselves to Pens fans? The new breed of Crosby socialites has called for Webster to redefine the word moron.

We shouldn't. Sorry to sound arrogant but we're above them. Pitt has nothing on real fans like us, or the fans in Boston or Minnesota. We shouldn't act like Pens fans at all.

Not all Pens fans. Just the new breed that has spawned since whiny face came on the map.
