titanium2 867 Report post Posted August 18, 2009 I doubt Leino will make his doghouse very often. Babs seems to really like him. First impressions mean a lot to him. Just ask Hudler.
gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted August 18, 2009 One of the TSN guys posted these lines, thought you all would get a kick out of this: Datsyuk-Zetterberg-Holmstrom Cleary-Filppula-Franzen Bertuzzi-Williams-Eaves Maltby-Draper-Helm Leino It wouldn't shock me to see this on more than a few nights. While I'm excited about Leino's career, I am not near as expectant as some are here for him to have an outstanding rookie campaign. If he comes out strong and plays as well as he did in his time up with us last year, this obviously won't happen. But if he doesn't, which is quite likely if you ask me, he'll spend some time in the press box. It's not because he sucks or because I'm pessimistic. It's just how it goes at times. He's a rookie. Any rookie that doesn't come out like a superstar for the Wings is likely to spend some time in the press box. And of all teams, the Wings do tend to place a premium on veteran talent. robb himself 143 Report post Posted August 19, 2009 Franzen, Zetterberg, Cleary Filppula, Datsyuk, Bertuzzi Leino, Williams, Holmstrom Helm, Draper, Eaves 13th Maltby
Guest Crymson Report post Posted August 19, 2009 By logic Maltby should be the odd man out, he's done and doesn't provide anything the team need atm... but then again detroit with it's loyalty-first... pisses me off. That loyalty-first approach has done wonders for this organization. What part of thinking you could do things better than the management gets you off? Lidstrom for Norris 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2009 I know we all want it to be Maltby and with Holland all but guaranteeing Leino top 6 minutes... where does this leave us on lines?! I almost think it HAS to be Maltby... Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Franzen-Filpulla-Bertuzzi? Leino-Helm-Cleary Williams-Draper-Eaves? Maltby Lidstrom-Rafalski Kronwall-Stuart Ericsson-Lebda? Meech? Lets make it open tryouts for that 3rd spot on the 1st line. I feel like Homer isn't a first line player anymore, and if he is he has something to prove Zetterberg-Datsyuk-**open** Franzen-Filpulla-Bertuzzi Leino-Helm-Cleary Williams-Draper-Eaves Maltby, Holmstrom Lidstrom-Rafalski Kronwall-Stuart Ericsson-Lebda Meech
Guest blueadams Report post Posted August 19, 2009 i dont like these lines...but they seem probable if we keep pav and hank together... holmstrom-zetterberg-datsyuk cleary-filppula-franzen leino-helm-bertuzzi eaves-draper-williams
Guest mindfly Report post Posted August 19, 2009 (edited) That loyalty-first approach has done wonders for this organization, you ****. What part of thinking you could do things better than the management gets you off? They say the best players will play - yet they play maltby etc... it's WRONG. gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted August 19, 2009 They say the best players will play - yet they play maltby etc... it's WRONG. Or you just don't know as much about hockey as people paid millions to manage/coach professionally. Hmm...
Guest Crymson Report post Posted August 19, 2009 They say the best players will play - yet they play maltby etc... it's WRONG. Did you just insult my religion? I thought I was being a bit immature and out of line in calling you a name---you've been getting on my nerves for the past year, granted, and I doubt I'm alone in that regard, though that's another matter entirely---but what you've just said here is on a whole different level. Grow up.

Guest Crymson Report post Posted August 19, 2009 Eaves cost $500K. He is the spare part. If anyone sits, it'll be him. Holland and Babcock will not risk losing Helm or Leino by underplaying them this season.
stillwater 186 Report post Posted August 19, 2009 would this work... Holmstrom-Zetterberg-Franzen Cleary-Datsyuk-Williams Leino-Filppula-Bertuzzi Helm-Draper-Eaves Are you done yet? That's what, 543 combinations from you?

titanium2 867 Report post Posted August 19, 2009 would this work... Holmstrom-Zetterberg-Franzen Cleary-Datsyuk-Williams Leino-Filppula-Bertuzzi Helm-Draper-Eaves Holmstrom will always be with Datsyuk. I don't know why. That's just how it goes. Either he's on Datsyuk's wing or he's just plain useless. Are you done yet? That's what, 543 combinations from you? Man you're just on him like white on rice aren't ya? Smacks of someone who doesn't understand how well Leino played during his call-up. Hell, Leino would've ended up outscoring Eaves during his call-up if they only kept him a handfull more games. Going 5-4 in only 12 games is just sick for a rookie. I do agree that Helm will most likely end up playing on the 4th, although I wouldn't be surprised to see Babs give him a decent number of opportunities to try being the 3rd pivot. It looks like they just went by salary. Although Leino will get more money than Helm this year, Helm has a better reputation and he's Canadian. They're TSN. How can they resist? Love those lines, although it's hard to see Williams playing on the 4th line but who else would you put there? I'd swap Bertuzzi and Leino though but that depends on whether Flip and Bert have any chemistry, if they do go with your lines.
titanium2 867 Report post Posted August 19, 2009 Lines will change a lot during the season. I just hope Babs follows one particular trend: Filppula and Cleary in the top-six.
