Guest Four Report post Posted September 21, 2009 Well, since the majority on here hate at least one player on the Wings, it is time we tried something new here. Post here who you do not think will not play good and who you think will step up. Then at the end of the season, we can look at this and see how many people were completely wrong and whatnot. I believe this will become very interesting as the season progresses more and more people (including myself) will be stuffing crow in our mouths! I'll go first. I think JHoward is not a good goalie at all, and he will not make it the full season on the Red Wings NHL team. However, I think Filppula will get 80 points this season, and I think Williams will step it up big time and will contribute more than many people think. Oh and, Meech will suck this year again. GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted September 21, 2009 Don't we do this all year anyway? I mean, there's no secret about which posters like and hate which players.

Doc Holiday 0 Report post Posted September 21, 2009 I don't really hate any players. I think Maltby and Draper are essentially useless now (and Holmstrom to an extent) but I don't act smart when they fail and don't try to make excuses when they succeed. Also, I hate enforcers. Those damn enforcers, fighting and ruining our game! (please note the sarcasm)
titanium2 867 Report post Posted September 21, 2009 Yes, but now we can easily find direct quotes of them when needed aha Pretty soon we should see LeftWinger go to town on this one. There's already Hudler and Howard but I'm sure he's got one more. Willy is always a fun choice.
uk_redwing 495 Report post Posted September 21, 2009 Ericsson will not lose a single fight. And both our goalies will be inconsistant as usual until the playoffs. Also, Eaves is gonna be a machine.

Shaman 713 Report post Posted September 21, 2009 Howard will not make transition to the NHL and will be traded. Flip will not score more than 55 points. Leino will out score Flipper. Z will score more than 40 goals

b.shanafan14 733 Report post Posted September 21, 2009 Leino will pot 25+ goals. Filppula will score 60+ points. Franzen will lead the team with 40+ goals. Maltby will play less than 50 games. Howard will lose 5 of his first 8 starts in regulation. Bertuzzi will be mediocre at best on Zetterberg and Cleary's line and will be demoted.
Motown4013 350 Report post Posted September 21, 2009 The Positives Zetterberg will hit the 100 pt mark this year after what SOME say was a disappointing 08/09 Bertuzzi will impress. I think he is hungry and if healthy will have a 70 pt season Flip will come into his own this year and score at least 60 pts Eriksson will be the 3rd best d-man the Wings have by year end Dats...well, he will be Dats! The Downslide Maltby and Draper are both done I actually agree that Howard will not be our backup for long. I just dont think he has the consistancy to make the NHL. Everyone is hot on Ville...and I like him, but I think too many ppl are putting him ahead of his potential for this year. I actually have a really good feeling about Bert playing with Z. If they are gonna split up the best duo in the NHL in Pav's and Z then I want Z with Big Bert. For some reason, i like the combo!
StevieY'sguy 1 Report post Posted September 21, 2009 Flipper will put up 65-75 points and Jimmy Howard will post a winning percentage greater than .600, a GAA of 2.9 and a .910 save percentage for the Wings this year. Maltby will have less than 3 goals at Christmas and Eaves will have less than

GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted September 21, 2009 (edited) Kopecky will have 200 PIM's and will lead the league in hits. Sammy will score 40 goals. Hossa will win the Conn Smythe. Conklin will lead the Blues to the semifinals. Hudler will lead the KHL in points and will beat Chris Simon in a fight. I like your list...but one thing..You have to score points in the playoffs to win the Conn Smyth so that doesnt look good for Hossa. Actually, Id take the Hudler fight before the Hossa Trophy! digitaljohn88 4 Report post Posted September 21, 2009 Howard will be good in a backup role once he's had more than a few games this year with a healthy Red Wings team. Zetterberg will score 90+ points. Filppula will not score more than 60 points. Ericsson will be top-2 in minutes played by the end of the season.

WizardOfOz30 1,886 Report post Posted September 21, 2009 I think Osgood will have a good year, yes he may be hot and cold, but he's going to have to step up since the back up goalie situation isn't solid. Plus he's got to re-negotiate a contract htis year if he wants to stay here and one way to help that is to play good.
ltgator333 3 Report post Posted September 21, 2009 I like this thread. And if I'm proved wrong, crow aint bad soaked in teriyaki overnight and grilled. Kirk Maltby will not have more than 15pts by season's end, assuming he plays enough to get a shot at that many pts. I don't hate the guy but he shouldn't be on the team for about the third year in a row. Kris Draper will shut many of you up. Homstrom will be lucky to play 60 games, and will rightfully retire considering he's physically had it unfortunately. Osgood will have his best regular season in years. Better than 2 years ago. Jimmy Howard will be between .890%-.905% at the end of the regular season. Justin Abdelkader will be playing in the playoffs. Val won't get more than 60pts. Bertuzzi won't have 50. Eaves won't have more than 30. Leino better have 40. Stuart and whoever he's playing with will be the best defensive unit on the team. *Former players- Jiri Hudler will be a point-per-game player in the KHL for two years, come back to the NHL and be no better of a player in the NHL then what he was before and return to the KHL as soon as his NHL contract is up. Samuelsson's *successful* NHL career is a few seasons from over. Kopecky will be on Chicago's 3rd line at worst on any given night. Conklin will be the best ex-Wing goalie in St. Louis in many years. Think Manny Legacy at his best in St. Louis, and imagine he had it together.
Jake Ryan 1 Report post Posted September 21, 2009 Tomas Holmstrom is WASHED UP. I do not hate him, but I wish he was off the Red Wings. His salary is such a waste.
Guest Four Report post Posted September 21, 2009 Even though many of you say against it, I'm keeping my point total of Flipper at 80 points. He will get it done, his wicked shot vs the Rangers told me so.
