Zetts 236 Report post Posted September 25, 2009 (edited) I'm very happy to hear this. Didn't want him. Having said that, what exactly would he have had to do to get a contract? Were the Wings just stringing him along or did Cloutier know all along he had no chance of playing here? I mean, he was amazing in his preseason action, and he nearly got in a fight. I'm just confused as to why he was even here. Edited September 25, 2009 by Zetts
ChelisChick 174 Report post Posted September 25, 2009 I read that the Wings were giving him a "showcase" so other teams could get a look at him. Clouts knew he wasn't going to be offered a spot on the Wings roster. He was just there to make himself available to the league. I hope he gets an offer. I actually like the guy. I'm just confused as to why he was even here. He contacted the Wings and requested a tryout. If memory serves he has some connection to at least the Michigan/Detroit area, so it may have been a personal favor. Like others have mentioned, I think he just wanted a shot for teams to see him and get his career back on track.

edicius 3,269 Report post Posted September 25, 2009 I hope he finds himself a gig somewhere. I've given the guy his fair share of ribbing over the years, but he seems like a good guy and he's still got the passion for the game (which is more than I can say for others in the league). russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted September 25, 2009 I think he will sign in Europe this year on a 1 year deal. If he succeeds there I think he may find a job in the AHL next year.

Opie 308 Report post Posted September 25, 2009 I watched him be atrocious in Manchester, this man belongs between the pipes in the NHL like I do. Listen he may have had the skill set at one point in time, unlike me, to be an NHL netminder, but those days are back with Nik's 60 footer!
