topsideplaya 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2009 I agree. Meech's greatest asset is that he is an interchangable forward/defensman. Now that we have Abdelkader, Maltby, and possibly May fighting for a 13th forward spot, we no longer need his depth up front. Meech still has more nhl experience than the likes of Kindl or some of our other prospects so at the very least he does provide depth, but I would like him to be below Delmore on that depth list. In any event I would be surprised to see Meech in a Wings uniform next year. Yeah exactly what I was thinking. Last year Meech was much more valuable since we couldn't get an extra winger under the cap most of the year. I actually thought he looked better at wing than he does on D. It's a shame what happened to Lilja. IMO he was the perfect 6-7 guy for this team. I love stay at home defenseman who block shots and kill penalties. If I were the Wings I would keep a close eye on what becomes available in the next week or so and see if we can pick up a guy like that. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
