Mitchmac33 103 Report post Posted October 11, 2009 I haven't been able to watch any wings games yet this year beacuse i don't get FSN Detroit or even VS at my school. So i was wondering how Eaves has looked. I was excited they signed him, so hopeFully he lives up to my expectations
Buppy 1,720 Report post Posted October 11, 2009 Not much more than you'd expect from a 4th liner. Not bad, not great. I liked his speed, but I can't say he did anything worthy of note. Showed enough that I think it's worth seeing more. Still a grade of incomplete for Patty though, as far as I'm concerned.
Casey 145 Report post Posted October 11, 2009 Mostly agree. He's meshing well on the fourth line, though. I think he and May are both good additions, though it weirds me out a bit seeing numbers 8, 17, and 24 out there without the player I'm used to in the sweater! Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted October 11, 2009 I thought he played well last night, Babs mentioned that he was good in his post game interview. I like the speed and intensity that he brings, and he showed some good signs on the PK. I really like him and think he'll continue to develop and learn our system as the season wears on. Buppy 1,720 Report post Posted October 11, 2009 ... though it weirds me out a bit seeing numbers 8, 17, and 24 out there without the player I'm used to in the sweater! Certainly some big shoes to fill, even though all of them were past their prime when playing here. I still think more of 16 and 7 when I think of Hull and Cheli though. Rivalred 630 Report post Posted October 11, 2009 Give Eaves sometime to come around - say 20 games or so... As for Maltby, the man has been doing well so far.
Namingway 146 Report post Posted October 11, 2009 Eaves playing with Helmers on the 4th line might be something. Of course if Helms isn't on the 3rd but I'm guessing when he returns he'll be on the 4th line to not have too much pressure right off the bat returning from injury. With the two speedsters together I'm sure they could cause some trouble for the other team If only Eaves would throw his body around a bit more then it'd be great. Otherwise I agree with the rest of the guys, he wasn't the best but he didn't disappoint.
Reds4Life 51 Report post Posted October 11, 2009 Eaves looked weak alongside the boards. I expected him to play a lot harder.
Jaymz99 2 Report post Posted October 11, 2009 The same Maltby that's averaging a point per game? . Excellent! I'll second that.
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted October 11, 2009 He didn't do a whole lot, but I did notice him a few times. He's not impressing like someone like Helm did, but he's not making me think he was a bad acquisition, either. Given time I think he'll improve. What's funny is that all the guys who we can bench (Maltby, Eaves, Abdelkader etc., etc.) are all playing extremely well, making the decision on who to sit that much harder (before Franzen was hurt). Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted October 11, 2009 If your expectations are of him getting back to a 20 goal season type player, then don't get too excited when you finally do see him play (at least right now). However, on the fourth line he has done pretty much everything we need of him and has started to see some pk time as well, so I'd say the signing has been a success (especially for that price). Superman54 91 Report post Posted October 11, 2009 Eaves should not be paired with Helm, because Helm better as hell be on the 3rd line when he returns.
