Scoring issues solved

It was actually a great defensive play by Maltby that got everything started. When I saw him teeing it up and then firing I said to my wife "Holy s*** that was an accurate shot to hit the upper right corner". Then I saw the replay and noticed why it ended up there.

Doesn't matter....still a great play by Malts and good on him to tickle the twine at a crucial point.

Good for Malts. I didn't think he was washed up yet. Hope he can keep it up.

he really has played extremely well this year - the best he has in at least 4 years and is making one hell of a case to stay in the lineup night in and night out right now...

This is exactly what we need right now. 3rd and 4th liners chipping in offensively. I'm staying pretty positive on our Wings this year. When we get all of our top guns who are suppossed to be scoring...scoring, we'll be in pretty good shape. In addition, it will be great to get Franzy back. Best case scenario is that he's back in mid-late March and get's into form by early April. He could be a monster in the playoffs if he's fresh and motivated. Through all of the negativity about the Wings (some here on LGW, national media, local media, etc...) I just keep one thought in mind: pound for pound; I'll take our top three (Z, Dats, and Franzy) over any other teams top three....any day of the week. Especially at playoff time. I'm loving watching this season unfold, I find it extremely interesting and believe that the challenges we face this regular season could make us even tougher to beat come playoff time. At times in the past, I don't think the Wings were able to take a "punch" and get right back up...when they got knocked down, it took them a while to respond. We may see a team that knows how to take a punch a bit better and not look shell shocked, and responds immediately....not wait till the next game(s) to get it going again. Think of SCF game 7 last year, after the 2nd goal by Pitt, we looked shell shocked and dazed until the last part of the 3rd period. Even though I'm not too sure we'll be a 1 or 2 seed, we may be way more battle tested. Go Wings!!

I thought Maltby was finished.

Where are all of the naysayers? We need their inputs now... I need to know why this is happening!

Maltby was FINISHED here!!! What the eff is going on?

I love Maltby. Always have. He's chippy. He drives opponents nuts with his aggressive, large-gnat-like behavior. He's a loyal, hard-working, funny, blue-collar, TEAM player.

And if Babcock doesn't play him more - along with Drapes - then I'm comin' after him.

OK, so I'll need at least two large Wings' fans to hold him, but I.will.take.him.down. :boxing:

Really, to be honest, Maltby and Draper have looked excellent with any of the new guys I've seen them with, particularly May. It's almost as if the Grind Line's coming back for one last blast.

Yep. when in doubt, shoot it as hard as you can, and good things may happen  .

Malts has played pretty well. The thing about him I really like is he knows his role on the team, and does what he can to help the Wings win & doesn't ***** when his playing time is reduced.

Maltby is in a contract year, but I believe Draper has a year left, after this one.

I was just talking about Maltby for this season, as the last time Draper was in a contract year he scored 30 goals and then proceeded to go into ghost mode.

This isn't the first time that both Draper and Maltby played much better in a contract year...

It's not a contract year for Drapes. He has 1 more year after this one.

I think that Malts knows that this is his last year and it has added motivation. He'd like to retire with the 5th ring...

This is Maltby's final season. I hope he doesn't, but he will fade soon. Good to see him making a difference on the PK again, though.

Well, they have always said that Helm and Abdelkader were the 2.0 version of Draper and Maltby. Now, Helm and Abdelkader are getting regular playing time. Hopefully, whenever Maltby and Draper decide to hang them up, they go out on top.

Good question. I was ridiculed for suggesting Malts is on the team because he's more than useful. The bashing has it's own bandwagon too, ya know.
