October 23, CBC Sports: Classic moment in the Phoenix-Detroit game on Thursday. Coyotes forward Scottie Upshall was miked, and had this to say after a shift with Red Wings hard-hitting defenceman Niklas Kronwall on the ice: “Note to self, don’t cut across the middle because of Kronwall."

Kronwall has really incorporated these heavy hits into his game well. I remember a couple years back he gave an open-ice hit and everyone was so pissed off at him for not doing it as often as he could.

One of the best hits I've seen Kronner make was when he was in GR and hit someone like a freight train in front of the home bench (we were sitting about 6 rows behind the bench.) I think it was Foster from the Chicago Wolves. Foster stood there, and like a cartoon, his legs started wobbling and then he just dropped like dead weight. I believe Kronner broke Foster's nose. It was a beaut!

Cool, an injury.

Just take a look at my signature on how beneficial that type of play can be.

Glad we have a young defenseman in Detroit who is starting to embrace that, and not just in the playoffs.
