that hurts me in fantasy, but who cares!!!! if the yotes win we are tied for first in the central with the "amazing" "unstoppable" Hawks!

Great game tonight by everybody... HELM!!! unbelievable... Dats and Z, unbelievable... everyone else, unbelievable... lets keep it going against Toronto!

LETS GO WINGS

Ken and Mick mentioned this too, but the bjs won today to give them 18 points. With the Wings win tonight, they have 17.

Edit: Wings have a game in hand though.

The Sharks were playing tired and they got kind of short shrift on the non-whistle when Z scored, but them's the breaks. The Wings carried the play for most of the game and flat out dominated the OT. If Bert could finish, he'd be unstoppable, but the guy can't buy a goal.

Ozzie's 1 GA was a softie but he was nails the rest of the game and in the shootout. Good to see the Wings' best players be their best players tonight.

Onward and upward in the standings. I have a sneaking suspicion they'll lay an egg against the Leafs, but they've beaten some good teams. Shootout wins don't feel like real wins, but Detroit played well enough that 2 points feel about right for this game.

In my opinion the goalie did not have control of the puck and it shouldn't have been whistled.

Control of the puck is irrelevant. The ref couldn't possibly have seen the puck. That means the play is dead. There's not even a grey area.

He had his pad over it and yeah, the ref was 10 feet away staring at Nabby's back and there was no puck in sight. There should've been a whistle. I don't blame Hank for flying in and crushing it out of his pad, just like I don't blame the Yotes for crashing the net and jarring the puck loose a couple weeks ago; and while in a just universe there would be karma, the Sharks shouldn't have to pay for the refs' sins that benefited the Coyotes. :P

Yeah. I don't give a s*** really. My boys won. A bad call benefitted us (finally). I'd just be annoyed if I were a Sharks fan. Just as we have been in the past.

fixed.

The two are different.

Yes they are. Which is why I very carefully chose the word "facts".

i'm surprised the refs didn't review the goal

You can't review that.

The rule of thumb is 3 seconds, he had the whistle in his mouth but was giving it time in case it was loose.

Okay, I'm no referee but there's no way that can be true. I've never in my life seen a ref wait 3 secs to blow the whistle when the puck is out of sight.

Can someone please confirm this is crap? Three seconds???

Notes:

+ The Red Wings notched their first shootout victory of the season in a 2-1 win.

+ Detroit remained perfect on the penalty kill thwarting all four opportunities.

+ Chris Osgood continued his strong play stopping 33 of the 34 shots he faced.

+ Todd Bertuzzi led all Red Wings with a team-high 5 shots on goal.

Heh, I wish Brad Watson had had that kind of patience a few months ago when Hossa tapped in a late goal against a certain team from California...
