Doug Janik has shown in his one game he is far more capable of performing at NHL level than Brett Lebda has shown in 2 whole seasons.

But he doesn't have nhl-experience!... oh wait

For sure, Janik would be an upgrade, the management just gotta get their thumb out and act now.

PLEASE do something and trade for someone or claim someone off waivers. Just PLEASE dont call up another Griffin and say we are going to be okay.

We haven't really got anyone to give away that will bring in a player of even decent quality I don't think... it will just be another role man. Will have to give up picks and a lower order guy if that's the case. Is there still anyone halfway decent in free agency?

I was just looking on ESPN and Bertuzzi is still listed without a team so who knows the last time it was updated

"It is impossible to predict exactly how long it will take for any fracture to heal. Variable factors include age, sex and previous state of health and conditioning. The average healing time for this fracture is 4 to 6 weeks. Healing is considered complete when there is no motion at the fracture site and when X-rays show complete bone union."

There are a couple of Griffiins who could fill in and do a fine job. Ritola? Looked great during the PS and is a typical Red Wing type of player. Evan McGrath? Been in the AHL for 4 seasons, is playing exceptionally well, deserves a shot. Maybe Newbury or Williams? Maybe Tardif. I say Ritola or Williams.

That's ESPN for you!

Doesn't really sound too promising.... 4 to 6 weeks.

I have been trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, but at this point I wouldn't even care if we didn't get a bag of pucks for Lebda. Not saying any of the Wings had a good night tonite, but Brett was horrible. Maltby did a lot of nothing too.

Crap. Back on topic....I really hope Williams isn't as bad off as it looked on the replay.....man that was tough to watch.

The question is who is going to be able to replace these players who were supposed to be replacing other scorers we lost. I dont see any of them doing that. Thats just me, though. Obviously I know Ken Holland is not going to trade or sign anyone and we will see these guys up, its just going to be nerve racking to watch.

I'll be fun to watch. Ritola has a bright future with Detroit whereas McGrath is playing like he wants one. If either are called up it'll be exciting to see what they can offer.

Watch me get torn to pieces for this, but i cant help myself. We dont have anyone that we can afford to trade, so in my mind trading is not an option, which leaves us in the free agent/ waiver pool to replace some guys. Now dont kick me off the boards for this but.....shanahan is still out there....im just saying. If hes willing to take the league minimum or bertuzzi money, i dont see why not at this point, we are desperate. Not like williams was contributing that much anyways. Its either that, or ask yzerman to come out of retirement....

If they are going to call someone up though id call up Williams the guy can score even though he makes poor defensive desisions at times.

My 100% unbiased opinion says Jamie Tardif should be allowed to rock the NHL with his mega skills.

Just bring up Tatar now, to hell with keeping top prospects in the minors for 2-4 years. This kid is a shooter and everytime ive watched him for the Griffs he makes all the right moves and plays. I can't recall him coughing it up and he seems to be the type that will play better with better players. Get him bed in now and by the time he's 21 the whole org will have benefited

by it. The makings of the next Pasha maybe.

Guys I think are still free agents:

Miroslav Satan, Shanny, Mike Peca, Bates Battaglia, Boyd Devereaux, Ol' D-Mac...

So, the question is, how desperate are you feeling LGW posters? :)

I dont think that Shanny would be a move of desperation. I mean in my book he is no worse than Jason williams. Williams is just as bad on defese as Shanny, but if you ask me Shanny is a little better at puting the puck in the net. Less injury prone too. I dunno, im a huge Shanny fan so i may be blind haha, but i think he would be a great contribution to the team, as well as a decent verbal leader that the wings may be lacking. And no, im not saying that lidstrom isnt a leader, im just saying that shanny is a very verble leader haha.

Well, I agree, I do think some of the guys on the team could use a little bit of a verbal lashing, and I'm not sure there's anyone in the organization with that type of personality with the credibility to go with it... but the man is 100
