Griffins sign Sebastien Centomo to PTO

I just received an email from the Griffins saying that they just signed the Muskegon goalie Sebastien Centomo to a PTO. With two goalies in Detroit, two in GR already, and Jordan Pearce in Toledo, why would they do this?

Did someone get hurt or sick in Detroit/GR causing an emergency need or is this a more permanent replacement of one of the 5?

Getting Larsson ready to come to the big show? Eh I have no clue.

I don't believe anyone of our goalies are injured/hurt, so not really sure on that end either.

Apparently McCollum is MIA, so there may be an injury that hasn't been released yet. But who knows. I don't think Holland would bring up an unproven Larson or McCollum into the NHL, so the only possibility besides it being a depth signing that I could think of would involve trading for another NHL goalie and having him and Ozzie fight for #1.

I doubt anything is happening with the Wings, it sounds more like McCollum is injured or maybe being sent down (if he can be, I'm not really sure how it works between the OHL and AHL).

But the only way this would affect the Wings is if Howard leaves. Does anyone really see that happening? Regardless of your personal feelings about him, I think everyone can recognize the Wings would never throw in the towel so quickly on a prospect they spent so much time developing. He's only played in a few games.

I guess the Wings could call up Larsson and get him to play to see what they've got while also keeping Howard on the roster. But would they actually sign another goalie just to deal with those couple of games Larsson would be gone?

Amazing how quickly Grand Rapids needing an emergency backup turns into the Wings trading Howard away, isn't it?

An article on Mlive.com says that Centomo is expected back in Muskegon for their game on Friday.

This is nothing more than McCollum not being available today and Pearce being too far away in Toledo for a quick callup.

No way they're sending McCollum to another league-- he's been dominant at times in the AHL, with other starts poor but that's expected from a young guy playing his first pro season.

Clearly McCollum is either sick or injured. I haven't heard about an injury so I'd bet it's the flu and they're being extra careful with it so it doesn't spread.

Bruised hand.

Griffins notes

Grand Rapids goalie Thomas McCollum missed the game with a bruised hand he sustained in practice Tuesday. McCollum is day-to-day, and Fraser said he should be fine for Friday’s game against Milwaukee.
