Who Was the Last Wing to Score Back to Back OT Goals?

What about Franzen in 2008?

He had a really hot streak at the end of the season with GWG, but I don't remember if he scored back to back OT goals. Fedorov is a good choice also.

In any case, no one so far seems sure about the answer. Nice smart ass responses, BTW. :P

Mark Mowers... but in all seriousness I looked it up and found the last time the Wings even won back to back games in overtime (not including shootout wins) was back in the 01-02 season against Tampa and Florida (Shanahan and Hull).

Thanks for looking it up. I guess that rules out the possibility of Franzen doing it.

Gotta love LGW... this thread deteriorated quicker than Red Wing's fans' love of Fedorov.

zing!

also, it has not happened as far back as the red wings stats site goes back(97-98) but fedorov did have two ot winners in a three game stretch in 02-03.

You know, I might be inclined to say it's never happened. We know it hasn't happened after 97. Add into that factor that back-to-back OT games aren't that regular, and beyond that it's even less likely that one player would score both goals in a back to back. It's always possible but I wouldn't be surprised.

How are we defining this? To me, a player could have back-to-back OT goals, without the team having back-to-back OT games...

For example if Fedorov had the OT winner on a Wed night, on Friday the Wings won 5-1, and then on Saturday Fedorov had the OT winner... Fedorov would have scored back-to-back OT winners.

As long as there were no OT games between the first and second OT goals, the player has back-to-back OT winners. That would be my definition at least.

With this definition, it has likely happened more frequently.

I was thinking along those lines too...if I had to venture a guess it would be sometime back during the original 6 days if it has in fact happened
