Green Wing 26 Report post Posted December 24, 2009 I think I heard the Chicago announcers say that the last time Wing's had been shutout this amount of times before Christmas was 58/59 season. That's before I pressed mute, obviously.

Rick Zombos Ghost 82 Report post Posted December 24, 2009 It's only 5 shutouts against so far. for a team a couple a years ago that went like 2 years without one...that is a lot.

Guest micah Report post Posted December 24, 2009 I can't believe AHL players can't score on the best team in the league. It just doesn't make sense. AHL Schmay-HL. I can't believe that Lidstrom has played 20 minutes a night for 37 games and scored ONE goal. Yes we're injured, that doesn't entirely excuse our stars' lack of production. when Lids is performing like only he can, we applaud him. when he looks like he has this year - both offensively and defensively, he needs to be called out. Lidstrom was painful to watch the last few games but it's not all him. He's not getting many options. Especially on the break out. Notice how many times he carries the puck out of the zone and has to drop it back because none of the forwards are open. The one goal thing though... yea, brutal. Something tells me that Lids is playing through some unspecified injury. This sudden drop of performance can't be attributed to one year older. He has always shown up and never known to be a guy who takes a night off so I am giving him the benefit of the doubt.

This is HUGE for us. hate to be a debbie downer....while it is certainly GOOD to get him back he has yet to be a consistent scorer in his young* career. so... huge? could be. You neglected to tell the fellow that optimism has been declared illegal on these boards, given that it can lead to the utterly deadly condition known as disappointment. Guest micah Report post Posted December 25, 2009 If this is true and he plays in the Olympics anyway take that C away! Yup. If Lids is sucking it up becaause he's too old to play like he used to, fine, that happens, especially when you aren't known for being as dedicated to conditionaing as Cheli came to be. If he's playing subpar hockey by Lids standards because of some secret injury, then I agree with you, he has no business playing in the Olympics and should take that time to rest and make sure that wen it's time to go back to his job, he's ready to perform at a high level. CenterIce 83 Report post Posted December 26, 2009 (edited) The Wings have been shut out in back-to-back games twice this season. Research by Wings statistician Greg Innis reveals that the only other time that's happened in franchise history was during the 1939-40 season. The Wings have been shut out four times at home this season, something that hasn't happened since 1996-97. The last time they've been blanked five and six times at home was in 1976-77. http://www.detnews.com/article/20091226/SP...-to-get-healthy Edited December 26, 2009 by CenterIce
