Lids defence is still great, even the outlet passes arent bad, but in the offensive zone he is just brutal. That shot and alot of short passes getting picked off. Something is wrong with Lidstrom, he's gotta be hurt.

Why didn't he have surgery to repair that elbow in june and be back for training camp healthy in september... i really really wanna know, i hope some reporter ask that question

Ah yes,the old broadcasted in Australia jinx. At least Ritola played well for ya.

Ritola was very impressive tonight, got lots of time in the second. Wish he played a bit more late though but that was never going to happen. Hopefully he sticks around for a bit.

Is it me, or does it always seem to be Stuart, either out of position, or turning the puck over.

Stuart was VERY good tonight, can't fault him. Excellent defenceman.

Blame it on betman, the system in the european leagues are much better, to hell with parity and salary cap, rediculous...

BJs get as much for this game scoring in the late seconds of the OT scoring none in regulation as if they were to win 13-4 and playing lights out...2pts that is.... insanity

Yeah. But I have to admit, I kinda like the salary cap. It creates more competing if everyone has the money needed. With the salary cap, you really need to have the skill to build that team. Too often you see organisations that have good players only because they get a lot of money from a business that has nothing to do with hockey itself. In European leagues that is. It's just you, and you are nuts. Stuart has easily been our best defenseman.

Lebda on the other hand.....

Nothing is wrong with Lidstrom, oh wait, it is something called "CONFIDENCE." He has left his offensive flair that is all. he is not injured, and the only injury is in his mind. He is injured with his offensive touch so far, but the same could be same about Datsyuk then I guess? They are playing well, but no points.

If he can be repaired by playoff time, I say surgery NOW!!! f*** the Olympics!!! I want the CUP!!! The way he's playing, it won't hurt to send him off to the doctor now.

There are a number of problems with that line of thinking.

Firstly: He'd never be healed up in time for the Post Season to start. Even if he'd had the surgery LAST SUMMER, there'd be no guarantee of full recovery in time for the 2010 Play Offs.

Secondly: He may not fully recover from the surgery AT ALL. It's not a 100% type of thing. Surgery will help with the pain, but if he opts for surgery, he may never get enough mobility in that arm to ever play again.

Why do you think he hasn't HAD the surgery already? It's obvious that he's in pain.

It's either play through the pain, or risk never playing again.

That's a no-brainer, as far as I'm concerned.

Is there some injury Lidstrom has that I am unaware about? Stop speculating and face that he has lost his touch to effectively run a powerplay. His defensive game is still very good. I saw at least 5 nice plays he made on defense tonight.

Good game by Wings... the near future will be bright when we get some bodies back. Glad to take 3 out of 4 possible points from a division rival.

Lidstrom should probably take some time off to heal up after we get some healthy guys back.

How do know so much more about his injury than everyone else? Let us or just me in on what is going on with him.

Your statement can be based on nothing but your opinion. And my opinion is there is NO way that Lidstrom would lack confidence in his abilities, especially when he's well. And since he isn't playing well the logical choice is that he is playing injured. In fact it ticks me off that you would think so little of him. And Datsyuk for that matter. I still have faith in both of them. They have both carried our team in the past at times and I want to think they can heal enough to do it again.

Yes. As a matter of fact, there DOES appear to be an injury you're unaware of.

It's been widely reported that Lids has been playing with a severe case of elbow tendinitis for at least the past 2 years. You DO remember last year, when he was penalized for missing the All-Star Game, because he wanted to stay home and rehab the elbow?

He opted NOT to undergo surgery this off-season, probably for the reasons already stated.

And while he's able to play DEFENSE with a wonky elbow, what he is NOT able to do is TAKE A SHOT with any kind of power behind it. Simply winding up for the shot is probably living hell, (pain-wise), for him.

I can't believe you're unaware of the injury..... It's not like they've been keeping it a secret. Quite the opposite, in fact.

It is not a serious injury if someone is playing through it for "at least the past 2 years." You can not be a pro athlete and give a complete performance day in and day out if you have such a lingering injury.

Now I do remember that. Thank you. That's all I wanted, a reference to the injury of the like you just gave. Thank you.

So Datsyuk is injured now as well? Could someone find me the link for that too.

Perhaps you should talk to Stevie. No? How 'bout Forsberg? Patrick Roy? Mario Lemieux?

Is it MY turn to use the little "eye roll" smilie now?

Oh and if this really is a serious lingering injury for Lidstrom than the Medical/Coaching Staff for the Red Wings are to blame. They should have made him get the surgery. There is no reason for his lack in offensive production because of something that can be corrected. Since apparently it can not be Lidstrom's confidence.
