Its pretty obvious here that the problem is Ritola.. hes played 2 games and we have been shut out 2 games. We need Leino on every line!.. But seriously.. You would think this team would get tired of being shut out constantly.. I mean its kinda sad when our entire offensive output relys on how many goals Todd Bertuzzi can score a game.. These injuries cant heal fast enough. We make one of the worst goalies this season look like a Vezina candidate.. whats new?.. Anyways.. atleast we saw some fights haha.. Hopefully we bring some offence against the Avs.. who else can we call up haha..

To everyone bitching about Lidstrom not scoring: The guy is almost 40. Give him a break. He's been playing nearly 30mins or over every game lately. He is still playing great defensively. It's up to guys like Dats to put the puck in the net. He needs more heat under his ass than Lids, especially since the team is so depleted right now of key players.

So Datsyuk is injured now as well? Could someone find me the link for that too.

Nice re-focusing there. Your whole argument was that both of them are playing with no confidence. You brought up Datsyuk's name in your no-confidence post. I say you're wrong because chances are he would have the same kind of mindset Lidstrom has. I.E., Two Euros who don't show a whole lot of emotion. Only difference is he's younger and hasn't played as long. But to assume he (or Lidstrom) is playing with no confidence is ludicrous. The other logical choice is he is also injured.

The silver lining in this game is that Howard is looking like he will be able to steal games for this team when the going gets tough on offense.

The problem is that Howard's job is not to steal games. His job is to provide competent goaltending and let in on average two goals a game. Same with Osgood. It is going to be unreasonable to force these goaltenders to steal virtually every game from here on out simply because certain players can't pick up the slack on offense.

When is the last time someone other than Bertuzzi scored a goal? Four games ago?

Well, it's time for Howard and Ozzie to suck it up and start scoring the goals themselves!

And the last player to score, was Datsyuk, against Dallas, and Bertuzzi scored one more after that.

It's not the 'not scoring' part that troubles me. It's the 'not hitting the net' part. And it's not like he's barely missing either. Most shots, the organ player is running for cover.

Lidstrom looks like he has no confidence on the offensive side of the puck. That is probably due to his elbow injury. And also Lidstrom may be like this for the rest of his career.

I was really dissapointed with the level of intensity of the Blue Jackets fans. I've been to a few Predators' games over the past couple years (in addition to Wings' games), and the Nashville crowd was much more electric than Columbus. There were only a couple occasions when their fans were able to out-do out "Lets go Red Wings" chant.

It was a solid game by the Red Wings. If Mason didn't play out of his mind we would have likely won.

I do not know what to say but I think the injuries are too hazardous for us to play. Howard looks to give everything he can every night and has been the biggest game keeper for the Wings. Besides, since our main 3 scorers: Cleary, Zetterberg, and Franzen as being gone at this point, I cannot expet the Wings to have a success in offensive zone. One thing I like is that the team looks to play with much better effort than the last season.

However, if Zetterberg does not return in a short time, I think we can be in a serious position. By the standing, there is not much big gap from first rank to 12th rank. The Wings are still in good shape of being in the playoff with a sufficient amount of point. I just now nope there will be no injuries anymore.

the only times they chanted were when your section chanted (were you sitting 208/209 or just talking in general?) or when the magical scoreboard told them to

Since when has Cleary been one of our biggest scorers?

We were in section 210. My roommate from college and I were wearing our Clemson hockey jerserys, but we were both cheering (loudly) for the Wings with some other friends. There was a good collection of Wings fans near us. The Columbus fans even needed help cheering for a power-play, which is something the Nashville fans were very good at the other week when I was down there.

It's not just Lidstrom I'm worried about, Rafalski is right there with him in terms of poor production. Nothing I can do but hope they can start turning it around on the powerplay.

So did howard get a SO in the stats for this game since it ended 0-0 or did only mason get it cause they got the goal in OT?

Lebda s*** the bed on the game winner, but I'm sure that's been discussed to great lengths already. Otherwise it was a great battle of a game, one of the best games I've seen all year. The Wings definitely wern't playing "Red Wings hockey", they just tried to grind it out, but entertaining none the less. I only caught the 3rd period but Filppula has some good shifts, took the puck away and created some chances. Z, Kronwall, Williams, (and to a much lesser extend) Ericsson can't be back soon enough!

You know, I'm not even panicking in the slightest. I know as this team gets key players back by mid January, they will steam roll to the playoffs. There is no doubt in my mind that Red Wings will turn it on and absolutely dominate. I'm very happy with the way this team is still lingering in there despite being without 1/2 the team. That says a lot.

I kind of agree.

It feels like last year the Wings were scoring goals they didn't deserve, and this year they arn't scoring goals they do deserve haha. (if that makes any sense)

I have no doubt that Lidstrom and Dats will pick it up in time. Howard is playing very well. Once Z-man and Kronwall get back life should be easier.

Giving the Jackets and Steve Mason full props but I really think the Wings should have won that game. I think we had the better chances and god knows we had enought oppertunities to at least get one goal on the Power Play. I know we have a lot of key players out still but we really need to do a lot better on these chances that we are getting. Hopefully things can get turned around soon enough and we can start putting the puck in the net on a more consistent basis.
