Perhaps you should talk to Stevie. No? How 'bout Forsberg? Patrick Roy? Mario Lemieux?

Is it MY turn to use the little "eye roll" smilie now?

Ok so 5 legendary players are your answers. Well then every single injured Red Wing should be in the lineup now. Forget the pain, I want everyone back against Colorado.

Oh and if this really is a serious lingering injury for Lidstrom than the Medical/Coaching Staff for the Red Wings are to blame. They should have made him get the surgery. There is no reason for his lack in offensive production because of something that can be corrected. Since apparently it can not be Lidstrom's confidence.

You fail to see the point.

If he HAS the surgery, due to the NATURE of the injury, and his age, and the nature of what he DOES for a living, how he uses the arm every day.....(It's not like the guy works a 9-5 desk job, after all):

There is NO GUARANTEE that he'd make it back....AT ALL.

Let's face it, he's not far from retirement as it is. He probably IS better off playing through the pain than risking NEVER PLAYING....EVER....AGAIN.

Just out of curiosity, what part of that is unclear to you?

Ok so basically no more offense from Lidstrom! Great thanks for summing it up.

For as maddening as this season has been, the Wings are 3 measly points from 5th in the West. A long win streak is not realistic right now -- holding down the fort is still the goal, and they're doing it, even if it's friggin brutal to watch.

I thought there were some stretches of the games the Wings looked really good. I like how the PK is playing now. Obviously the PP needs work but that will improve when Z, Cleary and Kronwall get back.Heck, even Williams is nice to have on the PP.

Shall I break it down for you?

How was Yzerman's Game effected by his knee injury toward the end of his career?

How was Forsberg's Game effected by the plethora of injuries he suffered, (most recently his foot) toward the end of his career?

How was Patrick Roy's Game effected by the terrible hip pain toward the end of his career?

How was Mario's Game effected by his bad back toward the end of his career?

Eric Lindros' by concussions?

Bure's knees?

Bossy's back?

How many examples do you need of players, even GREAT players, who suffered through pain toward the end of their careers, and had their Game(s) drastically altered by it?

That may very well be the case. Exactly the case. Just as it was with Stevie toward the end.

And if that is the case then you have to ask yourself:

What's better? Nick Lidstrom on Defense, but with ZERO Offense?

Or NO Nick Lidstrom.....AT ALL?

Again....that's pretty much a no-brainer for me.

He is still playing hockey.....

Yes, he is. He's playing in Sweden.

And you can bet your very soul that if he was in ANY shape whatsoever to play in the NHL, he'd be here.

He's not. So he's there.

Again....THAT is the effect all of the injuries had on Forsberg toward the end of his NHL career. He's chosen to play in Sweden because the "kinder", "gentler" game there allows him to continue to play, and gives him a shot at International glory - such as that he may find on the Swedish Olympic Team.

I would take Lidstrom and no offense obviously :P.

Sorry if our discussion was a little heated. I was angry about the loss. :(.

Two goals in 4 games for the Wings. Pathetic.

Lebda didn't pick up Modin. Big surprise.

PP is a freaking joke.

Lidstrom is definitely injured. He was terrible in the OT, missing the net wide by about 10 feet, and then passing up on an easy shot, only to turn the puck over.

probably thought you'd never say that in your lifetime about the wings offense eh? how bout this. we scored 5 in 5 games, makes it sound like we scored at least one in every game. haha! better!

I don't know how much it'll improve with Cleary coming back, since he's been having an off year also.

Hopefully, Kronwall's return will spark the scoring, even though it's from the back end.

I agree. I'll take Nick on the blue line, even if he IS completely absent from the score-sheet, over no Nick at all. Every day of the week.

One has to wonder, however, how the obviously painful performance this Season from Norris Nick bodes for him re-signing next Season.

<shudders at scary, scaaaaary thought>

And I can empathize, socal. This has been one seriously frustrating Season, thus far.

No harm, no foul.

The scoring on this Team STARTS on the back end.

With Nick, Sr. not producing, and with Nick, Jr. out of the line-up, we see the results on the Power Play.

Of course we break their 9 game losing streak

Of course Mason plays his only good game of the season against us

I can't watch this depleted lineup play anymore

I feel bad for Howard if he can play like this when we are healthy i don't see why we can't make another cup trip

I am liking Janik, hopefully he stays over Lebda or Meech when we are healthy

Ritola is more NHL ready then Leino, im glad i dont have to watch Ville skate

GO WINGS!

The silver lining in this game is that Howard is looking like he will be able to steal games for this team when the going gets tough on offense.

The problem is that Howard's job is not to steal games. His job is to provide competent goaltending and let in on average two goals a game. Same with Osgood. It is going to be unreasonable to force these goaltenders to steal virtually every game from here on out simply because certain players can't pick up the slack on offense.

When is the last time someone other than Bertuzzi scored a goal? Four games ago?

Guest Lidstromboli

just got home from the game.

ritola looked good and helm had some "chances" but other than that it was a pretty boring game. nice to see may and janik fight in real world HD. don't know why modin wasn't covered at all on that goal.

i had an awesome view and it was enjoyable besides some blue jackets fan yelling "SHOOOOOOT" and "KEEP IT IN THE ZONE HURRR" constantly
