Marty Barry 230 Report post Posted December 31, 2009 http://sports.espn.go.com/oly/olyhockey/ne...tory?id=4783161 The Russians are saying that they may change their roster before the Olympics based on performance. I don't know if I see anything wrong with that or not. Like the regular season or playoffs, you ride who's hot, right? Or, do you stick to who you name 2 months prior? The article you link to is worthless. It says that the NHL opposed Russia's claim, and the IIHF backed Russia. End of story, end of thread?

Yzermania 156 Report post Posted December 31, 2009 With this being said, if Franzen somehow made his return before the olympic break, does anyone think Sweden would add him last minute, or still no because he'd be rusty?
ltgator333 3 Report post Posted December 31, 2009 Sounds like, once again, the NHL brass is trying to throw it's weight around in the international hockey community where they're opinions are duely noted but thankfully, they don't make da rules. The IIHF and the Olympic committee have the last say, and the NHL's leadership can go Gary Bettman themselves.

If he could play atleast a game or two before the Olympics and looked okay I don't see why they wouldn't take him over Modin..

Guest Shoreline Report post Posted December 31, 2009 (edited) Why don't we wait for the IIHF's response before questioning Russia's potential rule breaking. The topic title is based on the position the NHL takes, which their own deal and they will spin it the way they want to. *shrugs* Personally, I don't see anything wrong with getting the IIHF to clarify either.
