NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted January 6, 2010 It just seems stupid to me to drink at all before you drive. I don't know about other people, but there are days where I can drink like a tank and days when 1 drink will be affecting me. Even being below 0.08 can still lead to someone technically being impaired (and charged, at least where I live). Seems smarter to drive with 0 BAC It's never been an issue to me one way or the other though. In Alberta you take an initial road test to get your license. A year (or two?) after that, you can take a graduated test, to upgrade your license. The main difference is that with my class of license your BAC has to be essentially 0. Since I've never bothered to upgrade, possibly due to laziness, I've always stuck to a zero BAC when driving. It's really not too hard at all. I'm not saying it is hard. For someone my size (6'1" 190 lbs), having one drink while eating a meal is not the same as getting wrecked and getting behind the wheel. As for the commercials Rivalred just posted, I completely agree that drunk driving is the definition or irresponsibility, stupidity and selfishness. I just don't consider having a single drink with a meal to be the same, nor do I think those commercials are implying that as well.
Guest ZetterbergFourty Report post Posted January 6, 2010 s*** happens, nothing to make a huge deal of. People beat their children all the fckn time. Doesn't make it okay, Sparky. The comment was sarcastic. Drinking and driving is a real touchy issue with me. Nevermind taking their liecense or their car, they should be shot dead at the side of the road. Period. Believe me Sparky, I do indeed realize how fantastically stupid DUI is.

I just don't consider having a single drink to be the same. And I do not either. It all comes down to a person being responsible/mature enough to know what they can tolerate, which is what you are saying too if I am reading you correctly. I suggest you seek some counsel if you have such personal issues with the subject, wishing death upon one is not considered a healthy emotion typically. However, if you read the earlier posts in this thread, people are already ostracizing Cheli as if he drank 20 beers, 10 shots and a mango wine cooler. No, I'm alright in that regard. Thanks for your concern though.
Rivalred 630 Report post Posted January 6, 2010 Did you really just say that? Yes he did. No, I'm alright in that regard. Thanks for your concern though. You say you are alright, yet say the subject is an issue for you, and then state about wishing death upon a person. Why do you have these feelings?
Guest ZetterbergFourty Report post Posted January 6, 2010 (edited) Did you really just say that? Yes I did. They can mass murder just as effectively as a serial killer or some whackjob. Save the taxpayers some money. When it comes right down to it, one can very easily avoid getting behind the wheel of a !WHATEVER CARS WEIGH! vehicle drunk. Edit: fixed. Rivalred 630 Report post Posted January 6, 2010 y. When it comes right down to it, one can very easily avoid getting behind the wheel of a 4+ ton vechile. What kind of vehicle do you drive, a garbage truck? Average vehicle is not 4+ tons
Guest ZetterbergFourty Report post Posted January 6, 2010 What kind of vehicle do you drive, a garbage truck? Average vehicle is not 4+ tons Actually I dont drive at all right now, so what then? I have no business ragging on drunk drivers? It did come out a little too harsh maybe about shooting them dead at the side of the road, but the laws implimented as of now dont really seem to deter anyone from doing it again, and in alot of cases, repeatedly. Even if their drivers lisence has been suspended, revoked, or whatever.

Your concept of what the average vehicle weighs is way off, that is all. As for you not driving, not my concern to be honest. Do not drag me into your intense views, please. b-random 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2010 I think some people are overreacting, Chelios didn't hurt anybody but himself here. I've drove when my BAL was over .08 before, and yes it was very irresponsible, but people aren't perfect.

rage 24 Report post Posted January 6, 2010 (edited) I suggest for those that are really so offended by drunk drivers, you should join a group like Mother's Against DD or something and actually work towards making a difference in your community instead of just having ill-will towards people like Chelios.
