If There Was an All Star Game This Year

Just a hypothetical question of course.

I think Howard is the only Wing that would likely get in, unless the fans voted in some of our other players as starters.

I can't think of anyone else on the team who's been playing at an all-star level, except maybe Lidstrom, whose offensive numbers are a little down.

Even then, Howard would have a few goalies to compete with in Quick and Anderson. The fans would likely have voted in Kiprusoff or Luongo as the starter.

Why not even close?

I think Lidstrom and Howard might have made it, especially Lidstrom, who is always voted in as starter. Not to mention, he's had a good year defensively.

I just don't see it this year. There are better options out there.

Howard has the 2nd best save % and the 2nd best GAA of all goaltenders in the Western Conference right behind Nabokov (for guys that played at least 1/2 the games). How can he not be on the allstar team.

Nabokov should be the starter and Howard the back-up.

Who else is there in the West?

Kipursoff's numbers are not as good in either catagory.

There's this guy named Anderson. You may have heard of him. He plays for the Colorado Avalanche.

Since the policy is to include at least one player from every team, I'm going to say yes.

Exactly.

But I remember the fan-votes being completely messed up last year, leading to all kinds of mediocre players making the team over guys like Hossa, Franzen, Zetterberg etc. so I'm not sure the Wings would have had more than one. Possibly Datsyuk, atleast he SHOULD be there considering he's the king of the shootout.

Personally I think the all-star game is pretty damn boring, Olympics is 100x better.

Yea, the guy that had a great first 2 months of the season then went back to normal. He is currently ranked 4th in save percentage in the west behind

Nabokov

Howard

Kipursoff

and 8th in GAA and 5th in wins. Explain again why he should be chosen above Howard when Howard has a better GAA, SV% and more Wins?

I guess if the voting took place in November, you might be right.

Nope.

They should see about getting a Over/Under 30 game going for the All-Star game next year.
