1/31 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Penguins 2 (SO)

The Pens had a couple good chances, but it was a far cry from the first period against Nashville. Most of their shots were harmless, but the Wings didn't do much of anything on the other side of the ice either.

With the rebounds Howard gives up, no shot is harmless.

The Pens are doing the right thing against him just throwing the pucks on net. Certainly more than we can say about Detroit's offensive prowess right now.

Only Pierre would call downtown Pittsburgh (I lived near there for 13 years) "beautiful"

LOL

That trade is insane. Calgary isn't better because of it IMO, despite what NBC is saying.

Maybe some of the powder they put on his face got in his eyes when he made that comment.

No one can disagree with you. That's like disagreeing with someone that says the sun is green and the earth is a square. It's just wrong. Does every single one of his passes connect? No, but you act like he's the only one like that. No one has 100% of their passes connect, Flip with no exception.

I'm not just wrong. And what I said had NOTHING to do with anyone else. I never said he is the only one. But this is why people complain about him, he's supposed to be better not be like everyone else. Why can't you see that? Why do you always go there? Like when you compared Filps to Dats? Or worse, Leino being benched to your idea that Dats should be too?

Dude, you're argument's hold no water. Filp was the cause of that last rush to end the period. He passed it out front instead of being patient and waiting for something to develop. Watch him play.

Well, they probably got better offensively. I thought that Toronto was having the same scoring problems that we're having, so they go and trade away a ton of offense?

You're kidding, right? Calgary far and away wins that trade. They shed some bad salary and their roster gets a lot deeper.

It is 'deeper', but is it 'better'?

And yes they shed some huge salary, which kind of makes me think this is a trade more for next year than this year, although I'm sure they'll take whatever they get this year.

I wish they would leave the ticky tacky penalties and call this blatant interference that is going on, ridiculous. Wings need to create some more offense but it might be difficult if you get interfered with on every play.

No Doc thinks it is the most beautiful city in the world. Eveytime nbc has pit they always show an airplane view and Doc spooges, its no different than any other rust belt city, nothing to look at really.

Much better, they get rid of a lockerroom issue + salary + defensive weakness all in one person. (Ian White is a much better d-man for the role Phaneuf was playing in Calgary)

Meanwhile, they get a center that can make a play, a good, hardworking winger that can score goals, and some dude. They can toss Jokinen on the wing and stick Langkow or Stajan between him and Iggy, and still have a good second line with Bourque and one of Stajan or Lankgow.

J-Bo - Giordano

White - Reggy

Sarich - Johnson/Pardy

is a much more balanced looking defense.

And yea, White is an RFA so they get him much cheaper than Phaneuf next year, and shed salary for next year.
