BuckeyeWingsfan80 209 Report post Posted February 5, 2010 We'll just have to wait and see I guess. I'm pretty sure Chicago will do something to bolster their defense and/or their goal-tending because that is their Achilles heel.
BuckeyeWingsfan80 209 Report post Posted February 5, 2010 Way to throw something out that has nothing to do with the current discussion. People tend to do that when they are wrong. The howard comment was a joke for f***s sake. Chill.

I'm pretty sure Chicago will do something to bolster their defense and/or their goal-tending because that is their Achilles heel. If your Achilles' heel is having the 2nd best defense in the league then you don't have very many problems.
Guest Howard He Do It?! Report post Posted February 5, 2010 Chicago ranks first in shots against per game (24.1).

Did I ever say they had "many problems"? It's not about not giving Chicago credit - it's about winning in the playoffs. I don't think they'll win the Cup with what they have defensively. Now if we get into a time warp and it's 1982 again with stand up goalies and looser checking games, then yeah, I think they'd do just fine. And that's not to say they won't even now. But I am saying that if they DO get beaten, it will be because of their defense.

BuckeyeWingsfan80 209 Report post Posted February 5, 2010 (edited) Chicago ranks first in shots against per game (24.1). I don't need to bring up the 1st round failures of clearly superior Detroit teams, do I? Crazy things happen in the playoffs - that's why the NHL playoffs are the greatest tournament ever. That is also why I think Chicago makes a move. Edited February 5, 2010 by BuckeyeWingsfan80

Guest Howard He Do It?! Report post Posted February 5, 2010 (edited) Some of those offenses were pretty good, much like Chicago's. Are we switching to offense now? A good offense can cover up for an iffy defense. See the 2009 Detroit Red Wings. Edited February 5, 2010 by Howard He Do It?!

BuckeyeWingsfan80 209 Report post Posted February 5, 2010 I guess, since this seems to have run it's course, it's time to post another question: Who do the Blackhawks part with after this season? Which players do they have going UFA or RFA?

Donaldjr2448 43 Report post Posted February 5, 2010 Chicago reminds me of the Wings of 1995. All of the skill in the world, but were simply not able to finish for a couple of years. I understand the game is different now, but I just see the Hawks looking the the Wings from that year minus the lockout of the first half of the season. My prediction is that the Hawks will be in the Cup Final, but get swept by............... The Devils!! You heard it here first!
Kwame_Kilpatrick 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2010 i think we can take em and i look forward to it, they have no grit, same w sharks, vancouver has some grit i am more scared of them, kesler what a legend
Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted February 5, 2010 Hahahahaha Good luck with that one. Chicago has a starting goalie who is 35th in the league in save percentage and a back-up goalie who is 14th They are the youngest team in the league 30th out of 30. They have a 19 year old captain and a coach that after 12 years in the league has never even been to a Cup Finals despite having coached teams with guys like Brett Hull and Wayne Gresky. Sounds like they should win the cup hahahahah He had Hull, but that was about it. He was an assistant with Colorado when St. Louis had Gretzky. We also shouldn't forget that the '96 Wings looked absolutely immortal during the regular season but then ran into trouble in Round 2, and then ultimately lost in Round 3. Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted February 5, 2010 blah blah blah... the legendary Stan Bowman will create something from nothing! He'll make them better this summer. No one can manage and sign players to low contracts like the Chicago Blackhawks!
