50+ shots, 2 goals. PP sucks ass. Shootout chances suck ass. Come on... How can a team with the same offensive core as last year, not score at least 3 goals on 50 shots??? This is starting to get annoying. They NEVER score when they need to. PP in OT? Pissed away. Sorry all I'm just annoyed. There is no excuse for this team. This is pretty much the same team that made it to the SCF last year, and won the Cup before. Don't give me that bulls*** about them winning all the time and it's their time to lose. Or, "oh they're just getting over injuries, and chemistry is off"... Even saying that they are tired from all of the games they've played is a joke. THEY HAD 50 ******* SHOTS! You'd think that they would at least be in 5th place with all the talent on the team. Just sick of the excuses. They just don't look like they have the heart to win anymore.

Well said, I'm annoyed too and agree, sadly I'm starting to lose hope. I can't tell if it's going to get worse or better.

Yeah, it's a strange rule. I think it may have actually come up before. I want to say I was watching highlights of the final game of some team's season where they needed 2 points to make the playoffs and tried it because 1 point would have done them no good. I could be imagining things, but I seem to remember hearing about it for the first time that way.

I remember this also, it seems to me that it was the Habs and the Caps, mebbe 2-3 years ago.....

IF we do miss the playoffs atleast we can all watch stress-free. These last two runs were pretty hectic and wild. May be good for our hearts.

f*** my heart. I'll take a hectic playoff run anyday.

I honestly won't watch the playoffs if we don't make it.

Especially since I don't have Versus.

I'm not going out of my way to watch internet streams of other teams. By watching, I'll also realize what we'll be missing out on. Don't want that.

What's really sad is that I'm not even trying to make a joke. I honestly could not remember when we last won a game.

"Fun for the fans to watch..." -Lidstrom

WRONG!!!!!!!!! WRONG!!!!!!!!!!! WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I enjoyed the game up to the missed chance by Bert.

The great thing is ever since 3 games ago the losses have desensitized me to the point where I am not affected by the Wings screwing the pooch constantly.

He was talking about shootouts specifically. Those are not fun for me to watch with the Wings.

So true. I am not as angry as I would normally be. I have come to accept this season for what it is. I don't expect anything to change and this has actually broadened my perspective as a Wings fan.

I don't watch the playoffs when/if we're eliminated, so if we don't make them this year, I won't be watching. I'm a Red Wings fan first, so if we're not playing.....I don't really care what everyone else is doing. Regular season games are different -- if the Wings aren't playing or our game ended early, I'll watch another game if it's on. But once the playoffs come, it's Detroit or nothing.

I'm sorry, but you're dead wrong.

"pretty much the same team" Yes. (Minus Hossa, Sammy, Hudler). Not quite dead wrong. Didn't put that in front of the first stanza though accidentally.

Well I am a hockey fan first and a wings fan second. I will always watch the playoffs. It is still great hockey action even if the Wings are not in it.

One of his absolute worst qualities is how he seems to have no feel for who's hot and who's not in any given game.

Like tonight, Bert was cold as hell, invisible really. And he has been for a while. Meanwhile, Mule was everywhere, had a great goal and was close to having more.

Yet Bert gets to go before Franzen. I don't care that he's rusty, shootouts are so much about confidence and just being hungry to score.

Datsyuk-Franzen-Williams-Zetterberg-Filppula-Bertuzzi

Something like that the SO order should be imo.

Btw, to the people putting this loss on Zetterberg and Datsyuk: I thought the both looked great tonight. Certainly outplayed Marley-Heatley-Thornton. Datsyuk had a couple of bad giveaways which is out of character and he missed a great opportunity but he also drew a couple of penalties and was involved in a lot offensively. Z looked like he had more jump than he's had in a while and did some really good things that sadly often lead nowhere but he tried atleast.

He believes in "Who's earned the right?" to a fault sometimes. He thinks, "Well, Bert's had experience in the shootout before, so he's earned the right to be in the lineup" even though he's bad at it. It doesn't ever seem to cross his mind that Franzen has a shot that according to his teammates is among top 2 on the team. Quite the thick head he has.

And if you have size, Babs immediately likes you. I swear it's as if the Ericsson-Stuart pairing is his favorite and that he thinks he's coaching golf instead of hockey based on how often he puts that pairing out there. Lots and lots of dumb minuses. So ******* dumb.

And as far as critcism for Datsyuk and Zetterberg goes, we used to be able to count on them to come through in the clutch. This year I don't know what's going on with them. Perhaps that criticism that they are past their prime has a lot more truth to it than we want to acknowledge.

I'm not trying to make excuses for the Wings, because they aren't playing anywhere near the level they need to be. But Hossa, Sammy, and Hudler aren't easily replaced. Yeah We still have Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Franzen (who's only played 5 games), but to say we have the same offensive core is ridiculous.

I don't want to watch another team win the Stanley Cup if we're not one of the teams trying to beat them. I don't know....I'm the same way with baseball. If the Yankees don't make the playoffs or are bounced out before the WS, I don't watch. It's like.....I don't want to watch some other team win something I wanted my team to win.

The playoffs are the only time of year for either sport where I put the team before the sport as a whole. During the regular season, I watch as many games as I can, regardless of who is playing.
