Say what you mean.."nobody else gets mentioned" means you think nobody else gets mentioned at all...Also idk what you're obsession is with this entertainment company, congratulations Ovie got signed by a big promotion company, cool...maybe he'll show up in half as many ads as Crosby does...Not that any of this is pertinent because we're not going to agree, but the bottom line whether you like it or not is that Crosby will almost certainly always be marketed as the face of the NHL over Ovechkin due to everything he touches turning to gold (speaking of gold, to all those Crosby haters out there, i suggest not watching Olympics hockey because Canada is gonna coast to victory) and the fact that he is from North America....I'm sorry that this upsets you but you're no longer making valid arguments you're just talking about how my points are wrong and how right you are and I'm not going to continue fighting with a babbling idiot by yourself about this topic.

A marketing company that won't touch anyone, not Crosby, nobody in the world of hockey...signed Ovechkin. Your excuse? "Uh, he's not in as many ads as Crosby". Who puts Crosby in ads? The NHL. Ovechkin transcends hockey when a company known for representing the biggest athletes in other sports chooses him. Your excuse previously was completely s*** on and you just kinda avoided that. Gee...wonder why?

Your excuse as to why he was on predominantly football/basketball/related shows was that "WELL OTHER ATHLETES GET MENTIONED TOO" and that it's just because he's from Washington. I asked you why no other Caps players have been even slightly thought of nevermind shown on their show. No other hockey player is shown even a quarter as much as he is, their by their own admittance. You also dodged that.

Hell, athletes from other sports have made mention of his name. That never happens, I don't care what you try to say. You dodged that as well.

So yeah I'm a dumbass, a doucher, an idiot, blah blah. I'm also the guy who made you look too cowardly and scared to respond to points you couldn't refute.

Your right Alex Ovechkin is the only athlete that other non-hockey athlete's have ever mentioned in public :rolleyes: ....Crosby hasn't signed with a marketing firm because he obviously is doing a fine job of marketing himself on his own, judging by how often he is in TV ads....Also the NHL does not cast Crosby in Reebok Ads, the people from Reebok do...The NHL does not cast Crosby in Tim Horton's ads, the people from Tim Horton's do, same thing with Pepsi and Sher-wood..isn't free enterprise great??

No, but I am. Because you said he just gets hype on PTI because he's a Caps player. What about other Caps players? Your logic is that he's only mentioned because of his close proximity to the PTI crew, so with that air tight thinking, this moron is simply questioning why no other Capital players get mentioned. What about the guy who is second in league scoring? They can't even remember his name. Enough about current players though, what about past Caps who surely have had highlight goals or plays?

Crosby is also predominantly marketed still in Canada through these companies, often with their Canadian divisions. Ovechkin has a worldwide appeal that is obvious.

Also the NHL does not cast Crosby in Reebok Ads, the people from Reebok do...The NHL does not cast Crosby in Tim Horton's ads, the people from Tim Horton's do, same thing with Pepsi and Sher-wood..isn't free enterprise great??

Who has a main rebuttal point of "uh, just cause".

For starters they dont talk about anybody but the best players in the league, and Ovechkin is the only Cap who fits in that category...also PTI has only been on for about a decade and before Ovie, Washington didn't have that many big name players aside from an aging Jagr for a few years....No one is taking me seriously?? Just out of curiosity how many other posters have you had a convo with about me and what I am saying?? This isn't high school, there aren't cliques, and most of the posters on here are on this site to talk hockey and i guarantee many of them are pissed off because they have to read this little feud between you and I..as far as the name calling goes, I think ive insulted you in 2 or 3 posts and i guarantee you have used twice the amount of derogatory comments and profanity that I have so continue telling yourself that you are right if that's what you need to sleep at night, I'm gonna go back to talking hockey because quite frankly I am quite tired of arguing with someone who is as immature and has an obvious ego problem such as yourself.

Which is it? Also, there have to have been Caps players with insane plays. POTW type of plays. To suggest otherwise is insane, every team has them now and again so why weren't they mentioned? Why wasn't Jagr mentioned? That guy had highlight goals weekly.

Monday Night Football. 4th Qtr. Skins game. What are they talking about?

Ovechkin. They're talking about him, not as a 5 second blip, but during an entire drive. They talked about how many Ovechkin jerseys they've seen around the DC area and how he's changed everything.

PTI. A show that not only mocks hockey but admittedly has no clue about it. Who are they talking about?

Ovechkin. At least twice from what I've seen and I watch that show maybe once every two months. They loved him.

Hell, there was that NBA player who mentioned that he tunes in just to see Ovechkin. I can't recall his name. Or this...

The man has the skills, but more importantly, has the personality and on-ice charisma that hockey desperately needs. The NHL foolishly hasn't even made him the face of the sport and he's still attracting otherwise uninterested parties. He has the potential to be a Kobe, Lebron, Manning, Montana, Jeter, etc. He's pure marketing gold, but the league just won't go back on their blind devotion to the Crosby marketing machine.

I agree pinning their colours so obviously to the great white hope that was sid the kid was short sighted, and Ovie has been the one to capture the imagination. Partly personality (he's clearly a bit crazy and we like that!), and also he's a goal scorer....and guess what goals are more exciting than simple hockey smarts assists. I don't downplay crosby's ability, but in terms of off your seat excitement, currently nobody can compete with ovechkin....reminds of me bure and federov at their peak...you knew at any second something truly spectacular could happen....
