got too cute in our own zone today is all. canada's depth was going to get us sooner or later in that ot. shame it had to be crosby tho (1st good thing he does all game). good for stevie, babs. see you in 2014.

burke's gonna be back. wilson's gonna be back. most of the team's gonna be back. langer, drury and raffy are the only guys we're gonna lose to age. it should be another great run for the us.

My best guess 2014 squad (much will change between now and then):

Brown-Kesler-Kane

Parise-Stastny-Kessel

Malone-Pavelski-Ryan

Backes-*Oshie-Callahan

*Okposo

Martin-Suter

J. Johnson-E. Johnson

Orpik-Komisarek

Gleason

Miller

*Howard

Quick

...others to watch (in addition to the young stars that will surely emerge):

Byfuglien, Booth

Whitney, Gilbert

Anderson

Guest Howard He Do It?!

I've seen it all now. A line combo thread for a tournament 4 years away.

I think US will be better in 4 years. I think Canada will be better in 4 years. I think slovakia, Finland, Russia, Sweden and Czech are all going to lose a lot. Rematch in 2014, and it's going to be up for Grabs. The US really did earn my respect as the 1B Hockey Power House. But for another 4 years, Canada's still 1A

I'm surprised (dissapointed) that more people haven't been eager to make predictions about young american players on the rise...

Not to give this thread any more momentum than it already has but s*** man, two things, Bobby Ryan will not still be on the fourth line and no way Pavelski is ahead of Stastny on the centre depth chart. If anything Stastny and Kessler battle it out for first line centre duties.

i made some adjustments.

i thought that stastny was the worst of the forwards that we brought to vancouver with us. his style of play really didn't fit in with what we were trying to do...or with what we needed. parise and langer had success in spite of him being on that line, not because of him being on it. i thought pavelski brought more of the physical two-way element that we needed. it seems crazy that a guy like stastny could be left off the 2014 team...but tim connolly was this year.

I was thinking that too.

I hope it doesn't happen that way, the olympics are just way too exciting

I seriously doubt that Rafalski is going to be able to make that team at 40+. Too many good young american defensemen. Don't forget that Gleason and Whitney were both injury replacements this year for better defensemen - Martin, Komisarek - that will still be in their primes in 2014.
