I would give anything to get the chance to line up a NHL player up center ice. Mad bragging rights right there. "Yeah, I once laid Maxim Afinogenov out at center ice".

I was actually there at the Pelham CC and he was super nice guy. He also made all the former college players and former Birmingham Bulls players look like they were kids. It was funny but either way it wasn't surprising. I did get a red wings shirt signed by him even though it was a Datsyuk player shirt. He told me that Datsyuk is an awesome guy and sometimes he's amazed watching Datsyuk play

Oh man. That must have been the best and worst moments of their hockey careers because on one hand, they got to play with Maxim, on the other hand, they realized just how much better NHL players are than even good college players. Bascially, you think you can hang with them, until you get on this ice with them. Then, you realize you're not even close.

Assuming you could touch him...

This would have been hilarious to go and watch.

The biggest problem Thursday turned out to be which team Afinogenov played with. He started out on the Black team and within 10 minutes the score was 7-2, with Afinogenov scoring all seven goals -- "the quickest paced 10 minutes we've ever played," Cheeseman said.

At that point he was "traded" to the White team, which wound up winning, 16-13.

"Of the 29 goals, Maxim scored 17, including the last three after it was tied, 13-13," Cheeseman said. "And he didn't come off the ice in either the second or third periods. He told us he was looking for conditioning. And besides, who was going to tell him to come off?"

I've played with a few NHLers in the off season at Compuware, it's a really humbling experience. Although it makes for a some awesome memories especially when you manage to get lucky a couple times in a puck battle haha.

That was one thing that was cool bout Maxim. You wouldve never known bein around him that he was scoring all of the goals. Hed score then go celebrate with his teammates telling them good pass and good d. I didn't get a chance to play but had some buddies that played in the games.

He also had a number of guys go after him. Nothing illegal but tried to get a good hit on him. No one ever did but he never took any ill will towards it. He actually encouraged the players to play as if they were playing with anyone else.

Afinogenov has been a frequent name that shows up whenever LGW has roster suggestions. Is he still an appealing option?

If Hudler wasn't coming back I wouldn't mind. I just think they fill the same role, therefore having both of them would be kinda useless in my opinion.
