mmamolo 287 Report post Posted April 28, 2010 9 injuries at once, and finishing 5th... no nomination. sad. Maybe so...and the only guy you could maybe replace would be Trotz but they had a hell of a year too. You couldn't leave off Sacco or Tippett with the years those teams had. cusimano_brothers 1,655 Report post Posted April 28, 2010 All from the Western Conference, all out in the first round. Interesting.
mmamolo 287 Report post Posted April 28, 2010 I dont want to say that's typical but maybe it's not surprising. I think a lot of the time you see the Adams go to a coach who turned a team around from a s*** year last season to a strong competitive year this season and with that usually results in making the playoffs without really being a contender - hence the early exist. Nashville is the only team, of the three, that was already a solid team. So I guess that makes it a little interesting in that regard.
wingfanatic4alltime 32 Report post Posted April 28, 2010 It has to go to Tippet. He came to the team in training camp, no one knew where the team was gonna play, and everyone picked them to finish dead last. Sacco is a distant second imho.
DirtyD 38 Report post Posted April 28, 2010 9 injuries at once, and finishing 5th... no nomination. sad. Meh. Would have been nice to have Babs thrown into the mix, but I think that each of those three guys are really deserving. Plus, just like the three Vezina candidates, each of these three coaches are on the golf course right now while Babs is getting the boys ready in San Jose. To me, that's really all that matters. titanium2 867 Report post Posted April 28, 2010 I'm still kind of surprised Babs got the nomination in 2008 based on the "do a lot more with less" criteria.
interminded 1 Report post Posted April 28, 2010 Babs could have been nominated, but so could a few others have been. They had to choose three coaches, I think these guy are good picks. Tippet achieved something amazing. It should go to him.

I didn't think what Trotz accomplished was anything major so I don't know if he's even top five. Maybe give some consideration to Clouston (although he couldn't handle his goaltenders), Laviolette (makes the playoffs with a team he didn't inherit and a ninth-string goaltender) and Boudreau (118 points). Jericho613 74 Report post Posted April 28, 2010 I would replace Sacco, Babcock did a better job. For Trotz and Tippet I hope either wins it, they did a great job this year. I think Tippet will win it though, Good luck to both coaches. Sacco's team had a hot goalie for most of the year in my opinion, its easy to be a good coach when Anderson was great for the majority of the year aside from maybe the last 2 months of the season.
