mjlegend 155 Report post Posted July 1, 2010 Phone call, Willie Mitchell to agent: Mitchell: Alright, I'm ready to sort through all the offers I'm getting. Who's the first one? Agent: Uhhh.... Do you know where Omsk is? Very nice city in Russia. Weather very much like Tampa Bay in the summer. Dostoyevsky lived there while he was in prison. Anyway, they're offering you 4 million rubles and 16 goats. Over three years. Mitchell: The KHL isn't really my bag, I want to win a Stanley Cup. Anybody else? Agent: No that was it, and I made it up. It's fictional. This is the third time you've called today, Willie, and I have other clients. I'll contact you when I get an offer. Jesusberg 1,256 Report post Posted July 1, 2010 Well $1.8M isn't that bad... I def didn't think he'd go for 1.8... I guess his past injuries contributed a bit to the lower cap hit. I would have taken him at 1.8.

Guest Heaten Report post Posted July 1, 2010 Those thinking that the hawks really only have 4 mill to spend need to realize that in that cap hit right now is Huet's contract at like 5.2mill. Its rumored but fairly reasonable to expect that Huet ends up in Rockford or he ends up playing in the khl with his salary paid for by the hawks but not on the cap hit. So its more along hte lines of 9 mill cap left with 13 players signed. Which isn't as bad but its still not good. Niemi and Hjallmerson are looking at raises which will likely put both of them around 5mill. So 15 people signed 4 mill to go... little better not so good though. What about the $4+ million in bonuses Chicago has to pay out?

Sprsquirt7 45 Report post Posted July 1, 2010 What about the $4+ million in bonuses Chicago has to pay out? I believe capgeek has the bonus' figured in. I could be wrong but currently with huet on the roster and the bonus' figured in they have 4ish mill left in cap.

Sprsquirt7 45 Report post Posted July 1, 2010 How do GMs keep thinking Chris Mason is a good starting goalie? 2 years ago he literally carried the blues to a playoff birth. I think for a team that is in a rebuilding phase he'll be able to solidify that goaltending.
