MacK_Attack 108 Report post Posted July 2, 2010 Via Nick Kypreos. There's a belief the Oilers will let him go via re-entry waivers after failing to find a trade.
Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted July 2, 2010 Wow. His contract wasn't that horrible for his good years, but it was terrible for his bad years. This is a good year scheduled for him this year... I wonder who is going to pick him up. I bet he could make someone alot more dangerous.
robb himself 143 Report post Posted July 2, 2010 they probably found a team that was willing to take him on waivers but not trade for him, so they went that route...probably a good decision...get the youth movement underway in Oil Town
Guest Crymson Report post Posted July 2, 2010 His wrist will, presumably, continue to be a problem.
MotorCityMadness 388 Report post Posted July 2, 2010 Wish we could sign him to be a PP specialist with his 100 mph + shot...oh well wishful thinking 1 uk_redwing reacted to this
stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted July 2, 2010 Wish we could sign him to be a PP specialist with his 100 mph + shot...oh well wishful thinking If he'd been bought out and agreed to come here at 1.5 or less, that would have been HUGE, but there's no way the Oiler's buy him out, that's too much dead money... Wings3:16 318 Report post Posted July 2, 2010 I wonder if the Oilers are just sticking with the rebuilding or are they shedding salary for something bigger?
Hockey13Playa 240 Report post Posted July 2, 2010 He'll get picked up by the Blackhawks and him and Campbell will chill out together back on the point with those fat contracts. Hey the blackhawks weren't trading away the whole team for nothin'. 1 Majsheppard reacted to this

Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted July 2, 2010 Who do you think will pick him up off waivers? I would like to see it be a contender.

GMRwings1983 8,794 Report post Posted July 2, 2010 I don't feel sorry for any man who's hooked up with Angelica Bridges and Kylie Bax. Someone will sign him for far less money than what he's made so far. He'll just have to get used to the paycut.

He'll just have to get used to the paycut. He'll be making money from his contract with Edmonton; as such, I doubt he'll go hungry anytime soon. 1 Zetts reacted to this
Zetts 236 Report post Posted July 3, 2010 (edited) Souray has cleared waivers. What this means more specifically: The Oilers can now choose to keep Souray on their roster or send him to the minors. If he is sent down, he could be placed on re-entry waivers by the team at a later date, at which time he can be claimed - but Edmonton would have to pay half his salary. Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted July 4, 2010 (edited) 2.7 is a decent deal for Souray on re-entry waivers, would Montreal be interested? Edited July 4, 2010 by Detroit # 1 Fan
TheDetroitRedWings 286 Report post Posted July 4, 2010 I know Souray has been a little banged up lately. But at half the salary, I would love the Wings to pick him up. I know it's not gonna happen. But some team out there is gonna get a nice score through re-entry waivers. As long as he can stay healthy Souray brings a hell of alot to the table.

TheDetroitRedWings 286 Report post Posted July 5, 2010 He brings a big shot from the point, bad skating, and a whole lot of defensive errors. He's excellent on the PP, he's a big physical guy who will also drop the gloves when necessary (usually successful when he does drop em) and he brings that big shot you're referring to. At 2.7 mill he's an absolute steal. My only hesitation would be his recent injuries. But really, we could say that about alot of players (including current Red Wings). Still don't think it's gonna happen here in Detroit. But some team out there will certainly take him at half price.

He'll score, yes, but it's important to remember that he's even worse than Mike Green in his own defensive zone. Also, his wrist problems mean that he'll be very unlikely to fight ever again.
