Ericsson and Kindl

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

I have noticed that there is next to no faith in having both Ericsson and Kindl on the Wings next year and I for one, am actually confidant in these two young guns. Im not saying that they need to play together (thats asking for trouble) but I feel we have enough veterans on the blue line to help these two become great nhl players...and if the experiment fails we do have janek and meech that could jump in at a moments notice...

all Im saying is that i think it is worth a shot...

are there any others out there that feel the same as I do?

im just curious...dont hate...

Id be down to run as a test

Lidstrom-Rafalski

Kronwall-Ericcson

Stuart-Kindl

maybe the first few games of the season or even pre-season, Kindl has to make the jump some time and either he is going to light it up or be a bust either way he will learn alot more from that then another year in GR.

No more Nick and Raffi. They don't compliment the way they have in years past. I'd be cool with...

Lidstrom-Kronwall

Stuie-Raffi

Ericsson-meh Kindl (real uncertain there) Meech, Janik

Find who works out best. Big E has so much to prove this year its an understatement.

This really puts the necessity of re-signing Lilly pads into perspective.

I think it's worth a shot to try... worst case scenario the team just rotates Meech or Janik in. These guys have to learn at some point. I wouldn't mind the lines being:

Lidstrom-Ericsson

Kronwall-Rafalski

Kindl-Stuart

There doesn't really have to be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd unit... a lot of teams balance their pairings out a little more evenly.

They can juggle it a bunch. Hope I am not replying to sarcasm lol but I really agree with the Raff and Stuie combo. Nick can really go with anyone in the system.

The thing is I have not seen Babs really play around with the pairings before. He has his mind set on pairings and that is it.

Fully agree with ya on that. Like our manager of the Tigers, just doesn't make any real drastic change (Babs knows more than all). Its just the top 2 pairings don't really have the same effect they once did. I think a little toying around with the top 2 wouldn't kill us. Nick and Raff on the point for the PP is almost impossible to mess with. But 5 on 5 I wouldn't mind a mix up.

Gotta agree, I would at least try splitting up Lids and Raffy but I would try to (at least some) get those bottom pairings playing with better guys to help their game and their confidence.

Trouble seems to be that neither Ericsson nor Kindl are better than any of the Wings' usual top 4 (Lidstrom, Rafalski, Kronwall, Stuart), but putting them together on the bottom pairing has the potential for disaster. Which explains management's desire to bring in an experienced, stay at home option for that third pairing.

Therein lies said problem. Ericsson needs to bring what we all thought we saw in the 08-09 season/playoffs. Not fully sure what actually happened to the snarl and/or puck skill he seemed to showcase that season. In the corners and by the net he just tucked his tail and ran. This cannot happen. So hopefully we can bring in a Boynton or McKee.

I have to agree. Babs seems to be too stubborn to mess with the Lids-Rafi, Kronner-Stuart parings, however it would be good to see Big E and Kindl get to play along side any of those vets. Hopefully this year it will happen. I have read that Lids and Rafi will not be getting as much ice time during the regular season as before, so hopefully this means that we will get some new pairings to spread out the time and give the young guys a chance.

Lids-Kindl (this guy can bring the offensive game, let Lids do the shutting down)

Kronner-Big E

Stuart-Rafalski

Those are some dynamite pairings if you ask me

(not necessarily in order of line 1, line 2, line 3)

3 goals and 33 points last year in the AHL doesn't scream ready for primetime to me, but at the same time he has paid his dues down there, so I say see how he does in camp and go from there. If he looks ready, give him a shot, if not send him back down. Of course that assuming he's still on a two way deal next year, i'm still fumming over lossing Quincey for nothing, who interestingly enough never put up more than 33 points in the minors either. Ericsson needs more time in the minors in my opinion, his defensive game still needs a lot of work and his offensive output doesn't come close to outweighing that fact. Unfortunetly he is also most likely on a one way deal.

Kind of.

After Babs described the way Ericsson played with Kronwall, as in, he showed a certain confidence and comfort when he had a partner who can play a skilled game, it made me think Kindl and Ericsson wouldn't be all that horrible. I mean, if can get along well in general and communicate effectively on the ice then it's at least worth a shot.
