Guest CaliWingsNut Report post Posted August 1, 2010 Thats what happens when you essentially sell your soul for a cup So... is there a reason this needed a third thread? 1 Lidstrom for life reacted to this
SweWings 45 Report post Posted August 1, 2010 Considering they won a cup with the second cheapest season tickets in the league, a hike is understandable. 20 % is a bit much but if they keep doing ok - making the playoffs and such then people won't complain. And after 2-3 seasons this won't be an issue. Thats what happens when you essentially sell your soul for a cup Considering they haven't had much of a soul for a while I guess it wasn't that much of a loss. VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted August 1, 2010 Not really a surprise. They had no fans. The only way to get fans is to increase your marketing and lowering your ticket prices. Think of them as a "new business." New businesses lose money their first two years because they have to lure in customers (fans). So, this is pretty normal, after all they're basically an expansion team fan-wise, haha.

Barrie 900 Report post Posted August 2, 2010 Maybe Rockwell is a liar; sometimes, the apple... Haha, I never thought of that. Maybe he's pissed he has to break up his championship team and is crying poor so he doesn't have to put money towards revenue sharing.
MCleveland89 122 Report post Posted August 4, 2010 Chicago Tribune Article Evidently the Hawks lost money last year and are going to raise season ticket prices 20%. Poor management. Everybody off the bandwagon....... That's what happens when you win a championship. Unfortunately for the Hawks, they don't have a big enough following for people to jump on the bandwagon for next year. Then again, most people who go won't notice the price difference because they didn't start caring until they won the cup.
Original-Six 254 Report post Posted August 4, 2010 (edited) So they sold out every home game, set record merchandise sales and still lost money? I know they had some of the cheapest tickets but still....That franchise reeks of incompetence. I find it hard to believe they knew what they were doing when they built that cup team.
