thegerkin 189 Report post Posted November 17, 2010 Wings’ Lidstrom Flirts With Perfection “It’s the way he sees the game,” said Anders Hedberg, the New York Rangers’ head pro scout in Europe and a former general manager of Team Sweden. “Have you ever seen him be in a rush? Did you ever see Wayne Gretzky be in a rush? Those are Einsteins. The rest of us, it’s like a bunch of ants running around on the ice, and it’s so damn fast. Their minds are up in the press box. They see everything, know everything, well in advance of everybody else. That’s Lidstrom and Gretzky.” Pretty great article. As Red Wings fans, I think we sometimes take it for granted just how damn great Lidstrom is. In the way I revered Steve Yzerman and couldn't fathom him NOT playing, I feel the exact same about Lidstrom. It will be a sad day when he hangs up the skates, but until then, we have to enjoy every moment of his brilliance.
puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted November 17, 2010 I've never taken Nick for granted... I dread the day he steps down, too. In the meanwhile, how lucky we've been to have him as a Red Wing. Personally, I think he's more special than Gretzky ever dreamed of being, and so was Stevie Y. I might be a bit biased, though.

Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted November 17, 2010 Nicklas Lidstrom is a cyborg sent back in time to express machine dominance over mankind through the medium of hockey. We are all fortunate that he chooses to continue his oppression of humanity while wearing the Winged Wheel. 2 thegerkin and atodaso reacted to this

dropkickshanahans 463 Report post Posted November 18, 2010 Who's taking him for granted? I'm biting my fingernails over here at the thought of him leaving because I don't believe we'll be a cup contender using a defense by committee after he retires.
