WpgMikos 17 Report post Posted November 23, 2010 Only been to 1 game so far this season (Wings/Oilers on Thursday) with announced crowd of 20,066. The Joe was pretty full that night. Lots of people from Windsor to see Taylor Hall. Crowd was pumped up (especially with the Wings scoring 6).
Guest scottj Report post Posted November 23, 2010 see though, some/quite a few of those lower bowl seats are still empty me no likey GET SOME ASSES IN THOSE SEATS or get some cardboard cut outs of fans so douchebag san jose fans can shut up about "LOL NOBODY AT DETROIT GAMES" when we consistently sell more tickets than them. I know this is very trivial but holy s***, adding fuel to a retards fire is just unacceptable.

You could always drop the $9G's a year that a pair of lower bowl tickets cost if you're not happy with the current situation. Or you could buy them for twice face value from Stub Hub or Ticket Exchange. Plenty of them available from either place for just about every game... And why do you bother worrying about what other teams fans say? When's the last time the Sharks won a Cup.

I got tickets to the blues game (last week) off of stub hub and i paid less than half face value. the game was "sold out" but there were large areas of empty seats. my friend and i could of very easily moved into the lower bowl and if we were ballsy enough gotten seats right on the ice, but from our seats (218 a row 3) we could see everything amazingly. It does suck that there are a bunch of empty seats when games are "sold out" but at least all the seats are paid for supporting the team. In situations like this, you just have to take it upon yourself to get the seats you want once you get in.

So you're saying, you bought seats, in the upper bowl, (though really good seats), to a midweek game against The Blues, what, a day or so before the game at less than half price? And how does that have to do with the lower bowl being empty? Other than that you wanted to sneak down there. Next time offer the usher $20-$30 and ask him if they know of close to the ice seats that are open. They know who shows up and who doesn't, and who's in The Olympia Room eating and drinking, and what seats are owned by ticket services. They can probably accommodate you quite well, without risking getting throw out for seat jumping.
NvrFrgtRussian5 85 Report post Posted November 23, 2010 Am I the only person that actually PREFERS the upper bowl? Anyway, I think we Detroit fans are a tad spoiled. I don't think people want to spend their hard earned money during the regular season; everyone figures we're going to make the playoffs so they save it until then to go to the games. Especially since the Tim Hortons deal for $30 is cheaper than you can get a regular season ticket for.

NvrFrgtRussian5 85 Report post Posted November 23, 2010 I will also go out on a limb and add that I bet a majority of the fans coming to Wings game are from out of the area; lets face it, Detroit is what it is and I don't think a ton of fans live there. For me to go to a game it will cost easily over $100 by the time I buy a ticket, fill the car with gas, buy dinner and maybe a beer or two. Not to mention I have to miss a few hours of work on game day since I live 2 hours away I have to leave at about 3 pm for a 7/730 game. Then by the time I get home that night, I often miss an hour or so the next morning. Going to a game for me takes about 2 weeks of planning with work and everything. To be honest, I don't feel like going through all that trouble to go see a regular season game all that often. I usually go to 2-3 regular season games. But playoff games, I try a bit harder to accommodate going. The seats are full and atmosphere is incredible.

Unless the Wings are playing against Chicago or other such rival team, I can consistently get good tickets for 1/2 price the face value at stub hub.
Doc Holliday 1,888 Report post Posted November 23, 2010 Actually, that's not the case. FSN Detroit simply has horrible sound. The sound from the crowd comes through much better on Versus, NBC etc. TSN has the loudest feed for the crowd. During a game last season you could clearly hear the "WHOAAA LIVING ON A PRAYER" singing over the announcers. I think it was against Phoenix?
Lord Stanely 39 Report post Posted November 23, 2010 Go sneak into the lower bowl, and if someone actually goes to that seat, congratulate them on not being an asshat and move to a different one. The first three hockey games I ever went to were in Chicago. We bought cheap $10 tickets and then sat right on the ice because no one was there. Same thing at Pistons games, and baseball (anywhere). Now that I am several years away from college and have two kids that I take with me- trying to sneak closer just isn't as much of an option anymore. It does seem that most places look out for this more now than they did 15-20 years ago.
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted November 23, 2010 This bugs me as well. They should really let the upper bowl move down, it's better for fans and it makes the team look better. But everyone who goes to a game says it's loud, I wonder if the settings for FSD are just lower when broadcasting from the Joe so the crowd doesn't seem so loud? I've noticed other teams games even the announcer is considerably louder.
Barrie 900 Report post Posted November 23, 2010 Go sneak into the lower bowl, and if someone actually goes to that seat, congratulate them on not being an asshat and move to a different one. That's always been my plan at sporting events, buy the cheap seats and start the game there, then sneak down.

I'm amazed at how many people from the Toronto area (GTA) are at Wings games. The last two times I've gone, when they showed the groups on the scoreboard, there was about a 1/3 of them from the GTA. The last time I was there, I was talking with some people from Milton Ontario, which is West of Toronto, a good 3 hours away from Detroit. With the Detroit economy the way it is, the Wings have a big advantage being so close to Toronto, and also the fact it's cheaper to go see the Wings, including travel costs, than it is to see the Leafs. Plus the hockey is 100x better!

BigWillieStyle 662 Report post Posted November 23, 2010 This bugs me as well. They should really let the upper bowl move down, it's better for fans and it makes the team look better. Yes, I'm sure that would go over well with the people who paid $90+ for a 46 game package. I'm sure they would really think it's great that someone who paid $25 for one game is sitting in the seat next to them. Think about it.
