I see nothing wrong with the hit. the only wrong thing is that this Stajan kid has not been taugh to keep his head up, which is probably the basic thing you start as early as in pee-wee hockey...

The Thornton hit was NOT fine, that was exactly what the rule was created for, it was a cheap-shot, classless and dangerous...

it wasn't a classless cheapchot, who s*** in your cereal? let it go, this thread is about the staal hit

In this thread you give your opinion on the Thornton hit saying it was "fine". Prepare for feedback on your opinion. That's like someone saying " I bet if Crosby was the recipient of that hit, there'd be a suspension" followed by you saying "That hit was legit and by the way Crosby is a little ***** and isn't even a top 20 player in the league". Then someone says "Crosby is a top 20 player in the league, what are you talking about?".

You can't say "hey keep it on topic of this hit", if you are throwing in your opinion out there on the side.

um... what?

This was a VERY clear North-South hit... just because Stall cuts across the ice doesn't make it E-W, he was never parallel with Stajan and was very clearly in front of him...

THESE are the kind of hits that need to NOT be messed with... if anything this is a perfect example for officials:

Thornton's - Illeagal

Stall's - Legal

Like I said, I think it's a good hit. But that's hardly a VERY clear North South hit. Kronwall crushing Havlat is a very clear North south hit.

He was clearly in front of him, but off to the side. He skates across parallel to the blueline. It's up for debate if that's considered an East West hit. My main point was who knows how the league will rule on it.

Do you really need to argue that point even when I'm saying I think it's a good hit?

Sorry, I see where you're coming from... I agree with you on all points except the East-West part and yes, you're right about having a hard time seeing how the league will perceive these lately...
