Bert's one-handed strength

I was at the game tonight and as I was watching warm-ups, I saw Bert pick up a puck with only his right hand on the stick. I couldn't believe my eyes. He placed the back side of the blade on top of the puck and scooped it up with no problem. It's probably one of the most shocking things I've seen in hockey.

I like his little move where it looks like he's about to get pushed off the puck then he just spins around n pushes the other guy with one of his hands then passes it to somebody comin up... he does that a lot now it seems lol

When I fiddled with hockey a bit, I use to practice using my stick off-handed. Eventually I got pretty good with it that way. Bert practices both hands from time to time, as do many hockey players. Really anything you practice with your right hand you should practice both hands, just for the dexterity it brings. I learned that lesson from swordfighting.

Really the only difference between myself and Bertuzzi, is that he happens to be good at hockey, while I am much better at "Watching" hockey. :-p

That and when I was trying to stick-handle single handed, it was usually because I was trying to stop myself from falling with the opposite hand :)

Thanks for the video. That's pretty cool, but he makes it look like its more technique then strength. When I do it with two hands I put a bench in the stick, so I figured they would have a bend in e stick with just one hand but I don't see any bend in that video

Does anyone who plays/played competitve hockey ever used a warrior stick?

I had a Dolomite a few years back. Someone fell in practice and slid into the boards and hit my stick. Snapped on the next shot. I didn't really care for it anyways.
