dragonballgtz 273 Report post Posted December 15, 2010 i dont like that they split up dats and z on the PP even if its for the better. franzen and dats arent getting it done, so maybe put frazen with zetterberg and bert with dats. if i recall last year dats and bert started clicking pretty good. I dont like flip on the PP bert dats homer huds kronner franzen zetta cleary lids raffi Bert and Dats didn't have any chemistry at all. If they did they would of clicked more often when Bert was playing first line minutes.
kook_10 1,705 Report post Posted December 15, 2010 They have been getting too cute lately. Go back to basics and drive the net again. The book on the Wings' power play has been the same for years now. They work the perimeter and quarterback from the point or half boards and try to pass through the seams of the box. Teams always try to keep the box tight so the point shots don't make it to the net or the passes don't get through. We need the puck carriers to draw the d-men out of their box more by having at least a credible threat of driving the net.

titanium2 867 Report post Posted December 16, 2010 They need to re-work the PP and start from scratch. They could definitely use the youngest guy in your new avatar.
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted December 16, 2010 Good game overall. However, Hudler and Filpulla need to SHOOT THE FREAKING PUCK. I've never seen two players so eager to pass on a 1 on 1, haha. On a more serious note, this was probably Hudler's best game of the season. He played well, but if he started picking his shots better he may actually get on track. titanium2 867 Report post Posted December 28, 2010 So... 4 Power Play goals in one game. Haha. I'm liking the all-Swedish power play 5 man unit btw. Franzen-Zetterberg-Holmstrom Lidstrom-Kronwall

Franzen-Zetterberg-Holmstrom Lidstrom-Kronwall Yeah, pretty awesome. Although, looking at the boxscore it kinda threw me off. It's not everyday that a team wins 4-3 and the winning team's +/- is either 0 or -1 and the losing team is 0 or +1. Then I realized all our goals were off PPs
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted December 28, 2010 I agree, and if I recall correctly, an insane amount of his points were scored on the power play back when he was with us last. Wrong. People like to say Hudler scored no points at even strength and only scored on the PP, when he scored the majority of his points at even strength.
Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted December 28, 2010 Wrong. People like to say Hudler scored no points at even strength and only scored on the PP, when he scored the majority of his points at even strength. You're incorrectly lumping me in with those who "like to say Hudler scored no points at even strength" and/or "only scored on the PP". How you came to that conclusion from "if I recall correctly, an insane amount of his points were scored on the power play back when he was with us last" is beyond me, and what I said isn't false. DragonballGTZ was kind enough to go back and look at the numbers and verified that 49% Huds' points came on the PP last time he was with us. That's well above average. And for the record, 75% of his points are on the PP this year.
titanium2 867 Report post Posted December 29, 2010 I like that Fil is trying to shoot the puck. I'm not crazy about how he either got blocked or missed the net entirely. But, all in all, I hope he doesn't stop shooting.
titanium2 867 Report post Posted December 29, 2010 Has anyone noticed a difference in the way the main power play unit performs now that Z is in the middle and not Pav? Seems like they have a lot more movement and passing. No? I think that maybe sometimes the other guys just get to standing around waiting for Pav to make a move.
