Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted January 12, 2011 (edited) One thing I would like to know... It might be that I just don't understand or it might be that there was misreporting but... Osgood was said to have a groin tear, and then gets hernia surgery... I thought a hernia was when a stomach muscle tears and the entrails push out through the tear... So did he have a groin injury and a hernia, or just a hernia, or is somehow that one in the same or are they not doing surgery on the groin tear but they are on a hernia, or did he get the hernia in philly, or did he get a hernia from throwing that win 400 weight off his back... Oh wait I just gone crosseyed... Seriously though, anyone hear any more info on this? Edit: addition from Joesting DR. "Diagnosis and treatment of sportsman's hernia". Curr Sports Med Rep 2002;1(2):121-4. PMID 12831721 via wikipedia, "The term hernia thus is a misnomer, but has persisted, as surgical reconstructions similar to those performed for inguinal hernias are often effective for "sports hernias" as well." Thus solves the case of the missing hernia... Edited January 12, 2011 by Majsheppard

Ram 240 Report post Posted January 12, 2011 Is McCollum just not ready? Any chance he might get some work? Or am I ignorant to the way his contract with the Griffs works?
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted January 12, 2011 Howard was not in net for the 5th goal you idiot. Bab's pulled Jimmy after the 4th goal. It was Howard's "presence" that threw Joey off. Otherwise he would have been able to stop it. But regardless, two s***ty goals for Jimmy and one for Joey, that's crap. Howard's s***storm let the Avs take the lead 2-1, and then allowed them to extend their 3-1 lead into a 4-1 lead. Without those two bad goals, Brian Rafalski's goal at 18:00 ties it up. Guest Stolberg Report post Posted January 12, 2011 Honestly, I'm wondering if Babcock isn't already thinking Osgood might be the playoff starter. Howard's not playing well and it's been going on for awhile and during that time, Osgood's improved and we know that it's despite injury. I think they sent him to surgery so he's ready for the playoffs and this doesn't become a lingering issue. He even said last night, "we did this now so we can get him back with 20 games left to get him warmed up and ready to go." yeah that's exactly it

Either the starter or I remember in the 95-96 playoff run that on a lot of nights it almost looked like a coin toss between Vernie and Ozzie. In fact, I remember quite vividly one night how channel 50 actually used the animation of a coin toss to reveal who the starter would be for that particular game. I feel like it was against St. Louis but it may have been Winnipeg.
