edicius 3,269 Report post Posted February 7, 2011 Per Darren Dreger on Twitter. @Darren Dreger Emery signs 2-way contract with Anaheim. Will be on waivers at noon. $500,000 (NHL). $105,000 (AHL). Him being on waivers is in relation to him playing going down to the AHL, not the NHL.

I wonder if the NYI will make a claim and I'm being serious... if nothing else, maybe he can give DiPietro some fighting lessons Edited February 7, 2011 by stevkrause

stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted February 7, 2011 I don't think Emery's apparently past form of psycho can be taught, haha. yea, no kidding... in all seriousness though, if they don't make a claim on him, it will show just how big of a joke their claim on Nabby was, Emery will be dirt cheap as well AND it's a two-way deal, so even if Nabby DOES report, they can send him down and if he clears waivers, he won't cost that much to keep in the AHL (where they also are pretty thin at goaltending)

Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted February 7, 2011 If Snow passes, especially now that DiPietro is hurt again, then it's even more obvious that he didn't really want Nabokov.

wingfan1991 221 Report post Posted February 7, 2011 Interesting :: “@TSNBobMcKenzie: Since plan is to start Emery in Syracuse/AHL, will be on waivers at noon today. Any team who would claim him would have to keep him in NHL.”

The team who claimed him would have to put Emery back on waivers to send him down, he just wouldn't be waiver exempt if claime initially.
Wingzman91 134 Report post Posted February 7, 2011 At this price, anyone that is a seller at the trade deadline will pick him on waivers. The funny part is how they say Emery wouldn't be ready with a conditioning stint, and needs more time. I believe you can ask to have your conditioning stint extended, if you and the club agree. You still count against the cap though.

stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted February 7, 2011 The other issue is that a player on a conditioning stint also takes up a roster space. NY Could just LTIR DiPietro and send one of their MANY youngsters down to clear the space while he's on a conditioning stint... if Snow doesn't put in a claim, my only logical understanding will be that he only plucked up Nabby to keep him from going elsewhere (not even necessarily Detroit, but from another team making a claim)

Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted February 7, 2011 Not a big surprise. He'll spend some time in Syracuse and get called up for a few games. How he plays in those first few games with the big club with obviously determine whether he stays with Anaheim or heads back down to Syracuse. It will be interesting to see how he handles the return. Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted February 8, 2011 His numbers say otherwise. For $500,000 you really can't go wrong. Could prove to be a solid pickup for Anaheim.
