pucktividi 472 Report post Posted May 29, 2011 With Raffi's retirement right hand on the PP must be a priority so no thanks on Kaberle
dragonballgtz 273 Report post Posted May 29, 2011 He is not what the Wings want in the motivation department. For some reason people in Toronto hyped this guy up like he was a Norris candidate the past couple of years. Now that he has to play defense he isn't doing s***. Guest Crymson Report post Posted May 29, 2011 My initial reaction was "No", he doesn't play defense, he's soft, etc. But the more I thought about it, is he that much different than Mathieu Schneider? I thought Schneider had his best years in Detroit. I could easily see that being the case with Kaberle. So he's soft and doesn't play a ton of defense, pair him up with someone that does. Schneider was average defensively. Kaberle is horrible defensively.
St. Michael (the Red Wing) 422 Report post Posted May 29, 2011 No thank you. However I wouldn't be surprised to see Holland consider him if the price is right...
Jusek 437 Report post Posted May 29, 2011 We need right-handed defenceman and he's too soft so big no to him.
Guest Crymson Report post Posted May 29, 2011 No thank you. However I wouldn't be surprised to see Holland consider him if the price is right... Lazy players who refuse to play defense are the exact sort of players whom Holland does not consider.

mmamolo 287 Report post Posted May 30, 2011 Kaberle looks as if he is afraid to be hit. He moves the puck well but he never shoots. He and Joe Thornton could have a contest to see who shoots less. I'd pass on Kaberle. No pun intended. We don't need Richards. Too expensive plus we already have 2 of the best playmaking centres in the league right now with Dats and Z. We need a winger who can score. He absolutely is afraid to get hit. I've said this a million times on this board. I live in Toronto so I've had the displeasure of watching Leaf games since I was a kid which means I've seen Kaberle's entire career. He is, and always has been, extremely weak defensively. He's one of the softest players in the game. On top of that, despite the offense that he does produce, he turns the puck over way more often than people realize. He just flat out is not that good. I wouldn't even want him as the Wings' 6th D for $1M/yr. He can't QB his own powerplay. The Wings already have their PP QB's for each unit (assuming Lidstrom comes back for the first unit and Kronwall plays on the second unit) so the Wings should be looking for a much better Rafalski replacement. 1 e_prime reacted to this
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted May 31, 2011 I've seen his name and Mccabes name come up a few times, f*** it let's ink them both>Pairing #3 complete. Dear. God. No. I'd rather Doug Janik as the PP replacement for Rafalski. McCabe is one of the league's most overrated and overpaid players. The only reason the Rangers went out and got him is because they didn't want to pay half of Redden's cap hit; Redden is better at just about everything but would probably have been claimed for a $3m hit. No. I would like to see Holland find someone young, like in their mid 20s. Someone with upside and can be trained to learn the DRWs system. Pitkanen, Clitsome, Wisniweski, Meech. Rather have Meech. Based on recent quotes, this doesn't sound too unrealistic a result. Meech knows the system and has a similar skill set to Rafalski, just not quite at the same level. He's good offensively and competent defensively, and very quick. He would be a good addition, and the worst case scenario is that you trade him away or lose him on waivers.
