arag 308 Report post Posted February 15, 2012 that definitely makes him more Italian than Dutch to me, considering the fact that Belgians and Dutch are two different (and veeery distinct) nations and if his dad was of Belgian descent, than Vanbiesbrouck could even be original (Flemish) surname... Wiki has listed him as an Hockey player withbitalian descend. Here is the list. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Italian_Americans_in_sports
arag 308 Report post Posted February 15, 2012 As for All Croatian NHL team, not much, but with some former Red Wings included: Joseph Cattarinich Frank Mahovlich Mark Pavelich Marty Pavelich Joe Sakic M.A.Vlasic Victor Oreskovich Mark Dekanich Very good but not enough active players to make a team. Ian glad you guys are having fun with the names. -iam. No love for Ray Ferraro? I have used all active players. Ferraro was defenetley a pretty good player. The Secret 304 Report post Posted February 15, 2012 Bertuzzi was born and raised in Sudbury, Ontario. His father, Albert Bertuzzi, is an Italian-Canadian who worked as a miner and in the window-washing business. When Bertuzzi was a teenager, Albert survived a near-fatal car accident in which he was thrown from the vehicle through the windshield. His father has stated that he was proud of his own local reputation as a "dirty player" and referred to it as a "Bertuzzi trait".[1] He has said that Bertuzzi takes after him in regards to his toughness and aggression. Bertuzzi's great-uncle, Larry Bertuzzi, is a Toronto-based lawyer who has done arbitration work for the NHL.[4] Bertuzzi is definitely of Italian descent. I made the trip to Italy this year to see where my family came from in Cavasso Nuovo in the province of Friuli in Northern Italy and I was surprised to see a great many Bertuzzi's in this small village... so I think Bert may be Friulan! arag 308 Report post Posted February 16, 2012 (edited) Bertuzzi is definitely of Italian descent. I made the trip to Italy this year to see where my family came from in Cavasso Nuovo in the province of Friuli in Northern Italy and I was surprised to see a great many Bertuzzi's in this small village... so I think Bert may be Friulan! There are several notable people with the surname Bertuzzi: Irnerio Bertuzzi (1919–1962), Italian airplane pilot Todd Bertuzzi (born 1975), Canadian hockey player Gian Ortensio Bertuzzi, Italian Mannerist painter Maria Teresa Bertuzzi, Italian mayor of Coppara[citation needed] Nicola Bertuzzi, Italian Rococo painter From Wiki. Dino Ciccarelli and Mark Recchi should also be in here somewhere Two excellent players. However I have made the team from active NHL players. GMRwings1983 8,803 Report post Posted February 16, 2012 What about my boy Enrico Ciccone? Or how about Gino Odjick? Don't remember if he was French or Italian. Gino is an Italian name.
arag 308 Report post Posted February 16, 2012 What about my boy Enrico Ciccone? Or how about Gino Odjick? Don't remember if he was French or Italian. Gino is an Italian name. I have found these on Odjick Odjick, a full blooded Algonquin Indian who grew up in poverty on the Maniwaki reserve in Quebec, shouldn't have lasted as long as he did in the NHL. But the two were inseparable, and Odjick acted as the link between the team and its distant superstar.
