AtomicPunk 296 Report post Posted June 12, 2013 (edited) Bob McKenzie on Twitter is reporting Philly has traded for Mark Streit - NYI. Gave up a 4th round pick in 2014. Likely to sign 2 year deal for 5 mil/per. Over 35 so it all counts. He suggests compliance buyouts in the works for Bryzgalov and Briere. I would post a link but I dont have the capability at this moment. I know I might be in the minority, but I'd love to see our hometown team get in on some early UFA action. Before the prices go sky high. Edited June 12, 2013 by AtomicPunk
Dabura 12,207 Report post Posted June 12, 2013 Wouldn't mind Briere. He was a playoff beast before he died and came back a zombie.
FlashyG 1,799 Report post Posted June 12, 2013 The Wings could potentially trade for someone's rights, but short of that I wouldn't hold my breathe on a FA signing. The team is trying to re-sign, Brunner, Cleary and Miller and then has a bunch of RFA's to deal with. Without shipping some salary out there isn't really any cap space for any Free Agents. 1 St. Michael (the Red Wing) reacted to this
13dangledangle 965 Report post Posted June 12, 2013 (edited) I too would take briere if he was a good price instead of inking Cleary or Miller. But again I would rather create a roster of scoring lines with a little sand paper on every line i.e Bertuzzi, Toot's, Abby and Helm. Put the Datsyuks, Zetterbergs, Nyquists. Franzens, Brunners, Tatar's & Briere's around those 4 "grittier" guys and f*ck yeah off to the races. Edited June 12, 2013 by 13dangledangle
St. Michael (the Red Wing) 422 Report post Posted June 12, 2013 As much as I USED to like Danny Briere. Going to have to say pass on him. As for Streit's rights getting traded to Philly? Not surprised one bit Holmgren made this move.
Bring Back The Bruise Bros 1,029 Report post Posted June 12, 2013 Pass on Briere. He'll be 36 in October. 16 points in 34 games this year. He's past his prime.

unsaddleddonald 357 Report post Posted June 12, 2013 Does anyone else have the feeling that Philly is going to buyout two bad contracts in order to sign one more bad one? What is the difference between Paul Holmgren and Glen Sather (Rangers, not Oilers)? Nothing.....

PumpIron 40 Report post Posted June 12, 2013 Id take him if we were a bigger team, but with brunner staying(hopefully) we don't need another smaller player.
dropkickshanahans 463 Report post Posted June 12, 2013 Another year of roster turnover for Philly, how surprising.
Dabura 12,207 Report post Posted June 12, 2013 (edited) I should clarify. I'd take Briere as, shall we say, a "playoffs specialist." I wouldn't expect him to be a core player or anything like that. It's just, if he could be had for dirt cheap, and there's a possibility that he might be able to find that postseason touch of his (has he ever played with a Datsyuk or a Zetterberg?), I think he might be worth it. One of those low-risk, high-reward dealies. Believe me, I'm fully on-board the we-need-to-get-bigger-stronger-meaner bus. frankgrimes 1,836 Report post Posted June 14, 2013 If he would available for a a cheap price sure, he is a great playoff performer with tons of experience.
